1. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan [quite simply the best album made by a long shot]
2. Kid A - Radiohead [genius]
3. Sticky Fingers - The Rolling Stones [the only Stones album that really comes up to the mark in my opinion, and a classic]
4. IV - Led Zeppelin [forget the cliches, this, from Black Dog to When The Levee Breaks, is a legendary album]
5. The Fitzgerald - Richmond Fontaine [an understated lyrical masterpiece from a great band]
6. Blood On The Tracks (original New York pressing) - Bob Dylan [I know this is cheating slightly, but the earlier versions are far superior]
7. Is This It - The Strokes [derivative or not - a great album]
8. Achtung Baby - U2 [their (only?) masterpiece]
9. The Freewheelin' - Bob Dylan [his acoustic masterpiece]
10. Dark Side Of The Moon - Pink Floyd [sheer brilliance]

And honorable mentions go to....
'The "Indie" Classic':
In The Aeroplane Over The Sea - Neutral Milk Hotel

'I'll see in another year if I still think it's great and then declare it a classic'
Funeral - Arcade Fire
Illinois - Sufjan Stevens

'The Rival to Acthung Baby'
Zooropa - U2

'The Album I drift in and out of thinking is great [and so probably isn't quite]
Love Is Hell - Ryan Adams

Ha! My apologies for that typo - obviously I don't mean to term Bob Dylan 'a long shot'. Of course I should have said, best album ever made by a long way.

I'm pleasantly surprised at how many people have listed Ryan Adams albums.

Not really in order, except for 1, and it is rather narrowly confined to mid-90s British rock but oh well.

3. Radiohead - OK Computer
4. The Clash - London Calling
5. Belle & Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister
6. Manic Street Preachers - Everything Must Go
7. The Verve - Urban Hymns
8. Oasis - Definitely Maybe
9. Pulp - Different Class
10. REM - Automatic For The People

Achtung Baby
The White Album
Pavement, Wowee Zowee
Sugar, Copper Blue
The Pixies, Doolittle
The Replacements, Pleased to Meet Me
Afghan Whigs, Black Love
Steely Dan, Countdown to Ecstasy
New Order, Brotherhood
R.E.M., Lifes Rich Pageant

Can't believe I didn't include any Bob Dylan or Prince (both in my top 5 artists), but none of their individual albums have as many great tracks as the ones above, which are all pretty close to fillerless to these ears (except for The White Album).
