Your favorite album of the 90's!

What's your favorite album to come out of the last decade....

...that ISN'T a U2 album. So no picking Achtung Baby! And you're only allowed to pick ONE album. Just one. Your Favorite. And comment on shy if you wish, that's certainly not discouraged. But you know what is discouraged here? ...picking Achtung Baby! Serious. Don't even mention it in the post!

Ok, I pick Radiohead - The Bends. Just a pure pop/rock masterpiece. No more no less. Perfect.

Radiohead - OK Computer

I know for some Radiohead is aquired taste, but I 'get' this album. I 'get' the hype about it and I 'get' why it's hailed as a masterpiece. It's absolute euphoria on my ears.

I loved The Bends as well, I am only just getting into OK Computer.

Other 1990's albums I really liked were

Violator by Depeche Mode
Dog Man Star by Suede
A Northern Soul by the Verve
Silkworm by Whipping Boy (a Dublin band)
Second Coming by the Stone Roses

But if I had to pick one it would have to be Automatic for the People by REM. (Any album that can get you through 800 miles of motorway driving through the UK has to be special).

Assuming no U2, probably Grace by Jeff Buckley, but these would be close seconds:

Vitalogy and No Code, Pearl Jam
Unplugged in New York, Nirvana
Boys for Pele, Tori Amos
Automatic for the People, R.E.M.
August and Everything After, Counting Crows

This is really tough.

OK, to not be a true Interferencer and choose multiple items for a one item answer, I will say The Downward Spiral by NIN.

Runners up:
Pretty Hate Machine by NIN (altho this was 1989, I believe)
Songs of Faith and Devotion by Depeche Mode
Little Earthquakes, Under the Pink by Tori Amos
Antichrist Superstar by Marilyn Manson

Can you guess my subculture? Or erm, counterculture?

Weezer- Blue album, Pinkerton
Nirvana- In Utero
Alanis Morissette- Jagged Little Pill
Bruce Springsteen- The Ghost of Tom Joad
Green Day- Dookie
Red Hot Chili Peppers- BloodSugarSexMagik, Californication

It's a toss-up between Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion - both by Depeche Mode.
