Not as cool as that 3-0 loss at the hands of the mighty Cheltenham last season right before the game at Portman Road, but good enough.

Northampton 1-0 Norwich: FT Report

PA

A solitary goal for Northampton from the inspirational Josh Low dumped Norwich out of the Carling Cup.

It was the third successive season Norwich have fallen to lower league opposition in the cup and the First Division side could have no complaints after being outplayed for long periods.

The all-important goal came after just eight minutes when Low pounced to score after Marc Richards' header had been blocked.

Low could have had a hat-trick had it not been for Norwich keeper Robert Green, who twice saved bravely at the feet of the Northampton record signing and also denied him in the second half.

Marc Edworthy also cleared off the line from the ex-Oldham midfielder.

Norwich enjoyed their best period early in the second half with Clint Easton shooting wide and Malky Mackay heading over but Ian Henderson missed their best chance late on when he shot wide with just keeper Glyn Thompson to beat.
