i don't know how programs other than kazaa are about being infested with improperly labeled songs, but kazaa drives me mad sometimes with that....

*this thread has been inspired by another thread in EYKIW*

:der: #1. popmart tour edge singing sunday bloody sunday: labeled as radiohead covering u2, also labeled as sublime covering the song

:der: #2. bad religion--21st century digital boy: labeled as pennywise covering bad religion's song, 21st century digital boy

:der: #3. henry rollins' "i hate u2" rant: labeled as walk on live from some awards show in 2002

actually :der: #3 is more like  #1...but i'll not be picky

I've seen Edge's SBS labeled as Smashing Pumpkins.

Kazaa is the devil

:banghead:

that is just STUPID. does someone out there really think that edge sounds even remotly like billy corgan?

In my pre-Smashing Pumpkins days (which was actually about a month ago) I actually thought that was Corgan. When I downloaded 'Bullet With Butterfly Wings', I said, 'well, at least Billy Corgan sounds rather lovely on Sunday Bloody Sunday'. Yes, I do feel like a fool now.

i've done stuff like that, takes guts to admit that!

edge did soud rather lovely singing that...

 i had it on a cassette tape which got eaten...

Ooh, I got one today. Radiohead's True Love Waits. I have never heard this song before, but I did get a catchy horn-based, jazzy song with a guy with a deep baritone on vox. I really want to know what song this is. It's got a lyric that goes 'all the things in flavour/aren't going to do you know favours' or something.

I've seen a version of "Creep" (Radiohead) as being said that U2 covered it live.

It wasn't U2. It was radiohead. Boo those stupid kazaa losers.

BTW--get Kazaa lite. It doesn't ****up your computer.

I think I've gotten 3 or 4 songs that were not what they were supposed to be, all U2 live songs that were labelled live but they were studio versions.

i've got kazaa lite  thanks to u2popmofo

now i feel stupid that i put my thread in the wrong place...it makes so much sense that it would go here...things aren't so clear at 4:22 am, i guess....sorry, mods

bono & clannad "in a life time" labeled as u2 & enya on the lord of the rings soundtrack

someone said they found this and were wondering what the deal was in EYKIW...i just found it by accident

I remember seeing a song called bubbles or something...says it's by Radiohead and U2 which was a stupid thing

I do, however, still have it on my computer as I was initially duped in my typical haze on ignorance

well i know the smashing pumpkins have covered u2's stay, and im pretty sure they actually have covered sunday bloody sunday. i might be wrong though.

i've seen that as pearl jam as well. with napster (or subsequently blubster) it displays all of the information clearly unlike kazaa (it's the only thing i don't like about kazaa). you can type in sunday bloody sunday, sort by file size and sure enough, it's the same goddamned track just listed with about twelve bands. i've also seen a lot of the radiohead bsides mislabeled as well.

kazaa doesn't read the id3v1/2 tags very clearly and that's how a lot of things are messed up in the title/song name and so forth area. you'll see a lot of things with r.e.m. as the band name for some reason. i've even seen porn (it was my friends, i swear) with r.e.m. as the "artist." then again, who's the artist in porn?
