Why can't we jsut speak properly??????

It's Northern Ireland but here llaods of ppl say "Norn Iron"

A towel=tarrl

Mother=yer ma (grrr i hate that)

Father-yer da

window-windy

socks-sacks

hair-her

air-aer

The ppl here just don't speak proeprly, the accents are awful, except i dont say yer ma and da etc...i hate that. I wanna get an accent like pierres from shipwrecked

yea well, I guess I too cringe when I hear our accents up against the english or american................mum says the Irish have the best (southerners) cause they pronounce every word and letter properly!!!!!

I cringe when I hear American accents up against everybody! Especially British, Scottish and Irish! My "American" way of speaking just doesn't sound as good as one
who speaks with a lilt or a brogue.

OMG!!! I LOVE COLD FEET (the show)...there's a station that shows it over here in the US, but we don't have that station at school! I've missed the whole last season! It's so frustrating to come home and try to watch it cause I don't know what's going on!

Hey, even I've seen Cold Feet a few times. Kinda funny, though it's hard to understand that Northern Irish accent sometimes. It's on Bravo here in the US. Sometimes I'll be flipping through channels and see it.

Awwww..well, to this Yank, any English/Irish/Scottish accent is music to my ears, gov.

I wanna know where the term "yer man" came from?? Whether it's his, hers, theirs or your man, it's always "yer man". Hmmm.

I also noticed that the UK seems to have nicknames for EVERYTHING. Breakfast is breaky, probably is prolly, elevator is lift, bathroom/lavatory is loo....anything and everything that can be shortened, is. WTF is up with that anyway??
