You mean I'm not your favorite artist? jk ;)

It's hard to say who's my favorite artist...of course I love all the old masters, Monet, Davinci, Michael Angelo, etc....I can't really think of one favorite off the top of my head, but MC Escher is also a favorite artist of mine

I  The Kiss!

If anyone gets the chance to see VanGogh's art in person, I definitely recommend it. I visited a VanGogh and Gaugin exhibit in January, and VanGogh's paintings (especially Starry Night and all the sunflower ones) look amazing in real life. The colors and brushstrokes can't be duplicated in photographs.

I also like contemporary artists like Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, and Roy Lichtenstein.

Starry, starry night...paint your palette blue and grey.

van Gogh...he is unmatched.

I'm not particularly original in my art tastes I'm afraid, I'm particularly keen an Renaissance art though:

da Vinci

The Last Supper

Virgin of the Rocks

Michelangelo (like his sculpture too...)

Pieta

Raphael

The Transfiguration

Not too keen on much modern or abtract art really.
I really find the renaissance paintings, sculpture and architecture, and admire greatly the masters who could excel in all of these. I've seen some of the work of these artists on a short visit to Rome, but I'm more than keen to go back and see much more, and visit Florence as well.

(sorry about the size of the photos by the way...)

I LOVE Michelangelo .....

His sculptures.... La Piet? is one of my favs.. just the details.. it's just awesome!

His exageration of the body in some of his works....

I'm in  with Michelangelo's work!!

Also Paul Cezanne....

dead, dead, they're all dead

And so is Marc Chagall...since 1986 I believe. :sexywink:

Since we wish to talk about living artists, these are the ones that excite me currently:

Adam Fuss:

Jeff Koons:

Of course, Fuss does photograms and Koons does sculpture (generally).

Of all the artists I listed, Chagall and Matisse are the ones long gone.

I also forgot to mention Gerhard Richter's latest paintings of Florence. They're absolutely gorgeous. Colourful impasto paint smeared across photographs of the italian city.

Contemporary sculptors? I like Mike Parr, Damien Hirst, Wong Hoy Cheong, Christo, and.... too many more to mention.

one of my favorite topics!

My favorite painter is ME!!!....lol...I love Monet, Raphael and Michaelangelo as well..but I lean toward sensualist art one of my favorite painters is Rodin..sorry I snapped the pic at an angle because I need to hang it..just moved..this is figured to be one of the rough drafts for the sculpture of the kiss.
