unforgettableFOXfire ~ I have a postcard of this exact statue on my desk. weird. it's so beautiful.

besides me my favorite artists (subject to change) are Mark Rothko (surprised to see him mentioned so many times already), Warhol, Michelangelo (the Pieta is amazing) Da Vinci, Van Gogh (whoever made the comment about seeing his work in person was absolutely right - it cannot be captured effectively in reprints). I also love seeing Seurat and the other Pointillists' work in person, it's amazing how they were able to do that! I also saw a really cool exhibit at the Design museum in London of some web artists earlier this year, but unfortunately I can't recall most of their names. One of them was Bjork's significant other, I want to say his name was Matthey Barney?

Modigliani
Monet
Bogureau
Van Gogh
Matisse
de la Tour
Toulouse Lautrec
Waterhouse

I'm basically a 19th century art fan, from Neo-classicism to the Pre-Raphaelites to the Academics and the Impressionists.

I also really like Rothko. Someday I'd like to decorate my home with his prints.

I'm also facinated by greco-roman style sculptures.

Paul Gauguin (he lived a really interesting life; I had to write a paper about him in French and it got me hooked). I prefer him to other Impressionists/Post-Impressionists because of his bold choice of colour, rather than the tame pastels Monet et al. usually go for.

Modigliani (I love the unique style)

Dali has some really crazy, off the wall paintings...I like his work. He was way ahead of his time, in my opinion.
