Who sang what in Pink Floyd ?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I can help with Comfortably Numb. Waters sang the verses and Gilmour the choruses. And in case you don't know, it's done in character - Water's is a doctor and Gilmour is the rock star Pink.

Hopefully that answers your question, it took me about 45 minutes to compile totally. I can get into specifics about who sang which line and which verse and which chorus if you really want me to, but please don't want me to.

Oh, and Mirrorball Man is spot on about Comfortably Numb.

I am the guru. ;)

excellent  ..i tried finding such info on net but was unable to...

for "comf numb" - "Hello, Is there anybody in there ..Can you show me where it hurts " and "O.K. Just a little pin prick There'll
..Come on it's time to go." is sung by Waters and rest by Gilmour.
Am i right ? Just double checking - their voices are so similar..excellent vocals both ( me slightly prefer Gilmour - i think).

What about lyrics ? I assume post waters, gilmour wrote most or all..and pre-waters Waters wrote most or all..? Do you have the list for that ?

Some other questions about pink floyd..

Which band is most heavily influenced by Pink Floyd ?

Have you heard "the porcupine tree". How do you rate it ?
Because I am getting crazy about "the porcupine tree".. I really am...:)

As a side note, which is your fav PF album ? for me its "division bell"

Thanks again for ur effort..I will keep this list with me for future reference .... when i am listening to PF..

AcroMan
ps: currently listening "coming back to life"

That's fairly hardcore there, Dave.

That is not a very popular opinion.

Mine's Meddle, anyhow.

I think Animals is my fave PF album. Momentary Laps is a close second. I don't rate The Division Bell. It starts of great with Cluster One, but the rest of the songs just recycle old ideas. And in the case of Lost for Words, old songs - it's basically Wish You Were Here speeded up!

You got it precisely right on C. Numb. And I agree, I think Dave Gilmour has a much better singing voice than Roger Waters.

I will compile the list in Notepad and have it posted in a bit.

Some other questions about pink floyd..

Go for it.

Which band is most heavily influenced by Pink Floyd ?

I dunno, I guess that's really subjective. The Orb has a LOT of music that seems very "Floydian", but I guess the bands most heavily influenced by Pink Floyd would be the cover bands like Blue Floyd! :D

Because I am getting crazy about "the porcupine tree".. I really am...:)

I haven't....what is it?

As a side note, which is your fav PF album ? for me its "division bell"

I think I like Animals the best, followed by Wish You Were Here, Dark Side, The Wall, Meddle, etc.

Thanks again for ur effort..I will keep this list with me for future reference .... when i am listening to PF..

You have excellent taste, AcroMan.

The list is coming forthwith.

My memory's a bit spotty on the Floyd, but I think you got those the wrong way around.

just on a side note, i have heard all albums post "dark side of moon"...and few songs of prior albums.
Well, get the rest. Atom Heart Mother and Meddle especially. Piper at the Gates of Dawn and Obscured By Clouds are pretty good too, if somewhat overrated.

Maybe, but "High Hopes" rules.

That?s awesome, Dave!

I really like The Piper... best, maybe. Roger toured Europe a while ago, and it rocked.

If you like some fun, check "Dub Side of the Moon", a full-fledged reggae version of the whole album, by the Easy Star Allstars.

Hey DaveC  do you know of a recording of a jam where they were playing or practicing the Dark Side of The Moon songs. It essentially sounds like a jam but man o man when i first heard it from a friend of mine 13 years ago it stunned my mind  but i lost touch with that guy and i kind off forgot about it but i wanna know if you heard it.

Hahaha, hey.

I know of lots of RoIO's of them jamming out Dark Side songs.

I actually have one of a concert they did at the Rainbow Theatre in London in 1972 (before the album was released), and they're all very early versions of DSotM songs (On the Run wasn't even written yet, so they play a 6 minute long guitar/keyboard jam called "The Travel Song"...better than On the Run, and I wish they had have kept it), in fact it was one of the very first shows that they played the Dark Side songs at. Great Gig in the Sky is a lot of pipe organ playing with a sermon behind it. Any Colour You Like doesn't exist except in a very odd swooshing noise.

It's great. I can send it to you if you have an inbox with lots of room.
