Fitz: Nice to see anotha Dan fan. Still we remain tied to the mast...

Lemon: You needs to get (or hear) Hissing of Summer Lawns, Hejira, and Don Juan's Reckless Daughter. You don't know Joni until you've heard jazzy Joni.

I couldn't agree more on that count, although I'd say the same thing about the overwhelming majority of the '90s, with those goofy bastards.

I was practically born listening to Dan. They're probably my Dad's 2nd or 3rd favorite of all-time, so being born in the 70s, their music is the soundtrack to my childhood. I can't tell you how many times I've heard Babylon Sisters!

And I think there was a Steely Dan thread. I remember posting in it a few months ago.

Yeah, most days they'd probably make my Top 10, always my Top 15!

3. Darren Hayes
4. U2
5. Take That
6. The Polyphonic Spree
7. Blur
8. Michael Jackson
9. Backstreet Boys
10. Roxette

I am such a pop whore.
Hey, I like the few Roxette and Robbie Williams songs I've heard (love Take That's "Back For Good", too. That's the only song I know by them, but it's great). And Darren Hayes, both solo and with Savage Garden? Good stuff. Liked BSB at one time, too, so... Nothing wrong with pop music whatsoever.

I also just want to say that there are a lot of excellent lists in here .

I guess I'll bite:

1. Radiohead/Wilco
2. Wilco/Radiohead
3. U2
4. The Beatles
5. Arcade Fire
6. Broken Social Scene
7. Okkervil River
8. The National
9. Sigur Rós
10. Iron & Wine

That'd be these days, but I can't be arsed to make a definitive, all-time list. It's pretty much impossible for me.

I think a definitive, all-time list is pretty much impossible for most of us!

I suck SOOOOO bad at trying to make a "definitive" list in regards to favorite music, as I feel like I'm forgetting or discrediting someone or something, or I'll change my mind a day or two later. Because of that, I'm going ot leave ratings out of it and just name 10 bands that seem like my all time favs for the most part these days.

U2
Radiohead
The Cure
Idlewild
The Shins
The Smiths / Morrissey
Okkervil River
Sigur Ros
Low
R.E.M. (though we've had a falling away in recent years, I seem to be coming back to their early work lately)

Thought I'd provide my top 10 in regards to what I actually listen to the last couple years from Last FM to compare, as there are a few that are different:
1. Idlewild
2. Okkervil River
3. The Shins
4. The National
5. Low
6. Radiohead
7. The Cure
8. Interpol
9. Mogwai
10. Manic Street Preachers
