I don't pretend to be a drummer myself, but here are my Top 5....

1. Neil Peart, Rush

2. Jon Bonham, Zeppelin

3. Keith Moon, the Who

4. Lars Ulrich, Metallica

5. Larry Mullen, U2

Even if you are a Rush hater, this guy is mesmorisng to listen to. Larry may not be the greatest technical drummer, but for someone with no musical background, he sure sounds good to me (he's certainly the coolest-looking of the bunch).

Neil is the most talented drummer ever. He plays like that, and writes most of the lyrics for Rush.

This puts him above every other drummer.

i second your list (although i'm not a rush fan he is a good drummer, like you said) i've gotta add jon farriss of inxs. he has inspired me to try to scrape my pennies together and get a drum kit one of these days. also, roger taylor (of duran duran, that is) is an underrated drummer.

LeafsNation list is good, I'm only don't like Ulrich, maybe I'll change him for Copeland or Dave Lombardo

I agree with all mentioned.

I'll also add Topper Headon (pre-junkie days that is).

(Come on, you can't help but air-drum to Tommy Gun or Safe European Home)

Gotta give a little recognition to Carter Beauford of DMB. He's an animal.

And as much as I hate to admit it, Travis Barker from blink-182 is a monster on the kit.

Peart is great, definetly in my top 5. I got Bonham as #1, most incredible drummer i've ever heard.

LMJ is the man but I dont got him on my list :reject:

How could I forget Danny. Tool is one of my favorite bands.

Good call U2DMfan.

the guy from The Yellow Jackets, but that's jazz... maybe jazz musicians don't count because... you know, it's jazz, another level

can't believe im the first in this thread to say it but . . . dave fucking grohl!!

also, jimmy chamberlin could bring tha noize

1. Alan 'Reni' Wren (The Stone Roses)
2. Larry Mullen Jr. (U2)
3. Sean Moore (Manic Street Preachers)
4. Phil Selway (Radiohead)
5. Stephen Morris (Joy Division/New Order)

The first is my favourite, the rest is in no order.
