I gave up hope a long time ago for rock music in the U.S.
I would recommend the following for my definition of good rock.

Check out:

Amorphis
Poisoblack
Green Lizard
Crowhead

All of these bands are from Europe and they kick ass

indeed.

the uk scene usually has something for the rock taste. If you like over the top style rock, you may like the darkness... if you like the pop style u2... try The Music.

depends on what you think rock is

there are a couple of punk bands out there (eg. flogging molly and dropkick murphys) that i adore and are still putting out great music.

and the uk obviously has plenty of lovely bands...off the top of my head i recommend super furry animals and of course, manic street preachers. two of wales' finest. :)
