This topic makes me sad. The best we have is Bon Jovi, RHCP and Green Day? Metallica? BON JOVI?

With the exception of Green Day, all those bands peaked 15-20 years ago.

Wilco and The Flaming Lips are easily the best current American bands out there, probably the best we've had since the Pixies and Jane's Addiction, but I don't think either would be counted as the biggest. But Wilco couldn't sell out arenas, and I doubt the Lips could either. Somehow those other bands keep a big enough fanbase to sell out larger venues, but I'll be damned if I understand it.

This topic seals it: I'm starting a band and we'll be the biggest American band - our competition is some weak sauce. Who's with me?
