Last movie I saw at the cimema was The Two Towers. As soon as Gangs of New York opens near here, I'm going. I heard Daniel Day-Lewis received a Bafta Award for his performance.....bravo!

A couple of weekends ago I stayed at my son's house and watched The Boston Elevation concert for the first time. I almost got square eyes that weekend. I also hired About A Boy, Amelie and The Affair of the Necklace. I had a funny feeling watching that last one. I didn't realise Simon Baker starred in it....I babysat him when I was in highschool. We have a family connection, so I felt kinda proud of what he has achieved.
I have just hired two videos to watch this week, an Australian film , Yolngu Boy and....oh why didn't I not chose the quick reply option so I could drool all over the place?
The Man Who Cried....Johnny Depp...Johnny Depp as a horseman
**drool drool**
It has been ratings time in Oz recently , so they have really packed in the good movies on free to air TV. I save my electricity for the computer and music.
This thread is a good place to get ideas for movies to see, thanks.

Blackboards by... can't remember her name. Daughter of that guy who directed Kandahar, Mohsen Makhmalbaf. It's about two teachers who break away from their nomadic tribe to find students to teach. Sadly, no one wants to take up their offer; no one sees the value of education. It's an allegorical story, very simply (and cheaply) told.

I saw Divine Intervention yesterday. It's one of the few films to have been made in Palestine in recent years, by a Palestinian director. It's amazing but quite complex and hard to follow.

And on Friday I watched The Magdalene Sisters which is unbelievably sad and depressing, but is also beautifully acted and directed.

And in lighter films, I saw Two Weeks Notice last weekend, and watched Dirty Dancing (my favourite film ever) for about the hundreth time last night

Let's see....

Recently seen in the theatre:

Chicago
The Pianist

Recently rented:

About A boy
The Sweetest Thing :lmao:
Pumpkin
The Legend of 1900
Jakob the Liar
Fight Club (seen it before)
High Fidelity (seen it before)
Amelie
All over the Guy

 They were all good.

I watched the ceremony last night, very good it was too, I think I'll be much happier with the BAFTA results than the Oscars. Seems some real thought has gone into the decisions, good to see Chicago didnt win too much
