Noel Gallagher writes better pop and rock songs, it's that simple.

Thom and the boys from Radiohead do their own thing.

I can't see Oasis doing an album like Kid A, but I can't see Radiohead doing one like Morning Glory.

Apples and Oranges.

Radiohead is art, Oasis is plagiarism.

what do you mean exactly?

I know Noel gets lines from other places sometimes but is it all plagiarism?

They have been trying to imitate The Beatles since the very beginning. Along the way they have brought in other artists that they have tried to imitate, like the Kinks.

Radiohead have lots of influences too, but I don't believe they would ever try to copy some other artist and limit themselves that way. That's the difference.

I see what you mean now. Yeah, they're most definitely Beatle-esque to a fault.

The intellectual level of the members Radiohead far surpass the level of the Oasis guys, which might factor into the conversation as well.

I made an Oasis Ripoffography. It's a tribute to Noel Gallagher's fine taste.

some of those are hard evidence of plagiarism, but references to other songs like the "tomorrow never knows what it doesn't know too soon" line from Morning Glory referencing Tomorrow Never Knows doesn't sound too bad.

I don't know sh*t about Radiohead But I do love the first and last Oasis albums (and a few songs in between), no matter who you say they've ripped off. And no, I didn't read the first 10 pages of this thread And yes, there are definitely Beatles moments and The Kinks on the last album, 2 bands I do love

Lila, if you want a good starting point to listen to Radiohead, I'd suggest The Bends or OK Computer, very sweet stuff.

Kid A and Amnesiac are growers, and I'm still not sure what to make of Hail to the Thief yet.
