What is my computer doing when...

I have no active programs running, but just sitting at my computer, reading a webpage...

And my hard disk light starts clicking, and my LAN card lights start flickering...

And when I physically disconnect my LAN card, and then plug it back in...

It seems all my cookies were erased... and I have to manually log in every website... Amazon, Yahoo, MSN, &c. (Interference included)

And I'm wondering... whether there was some kind of hacking going on...

They probably do; I've never used them. Do you also download the applicable product updates? That's important as well.

If you have Windows XP, you can also turn on the firewall aspect of your connection. Surprisingly, it is fairly effective.

Mine does the same thing all the time...

Of course, mine aslo makes a horrible screeching sound on startup, randomly shuts down, and closes programs whenever it wishes. So I just attributed it all to the fact that it was either a) possessed or b) fucked.
