1. Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) Hands down, the greatest rock vocalist ever. His vocal range is just ridiculous.

2. Axl Rose (Guns N' Roses) I never cared much for the rest of this band, but Axl's voice, back in its hey-day, was as close as I think we'll ever come to seeing another Robert Plant.

3. Bono (U2) Easily my favorite singer, personally. He has amazing range, too (especially during the 1984-1992 period) and can cover all the bases, from whispery, lullaby ballads, to full-throated screamers.

4. Elvis Presley - The voice of God, assuming the voice of God isn't Johnny Cash's.

5. Wilson Pickett -- The man didn't really sing so much as he howled. So, so, so talented.

Honorable mentions: Janis Joplin, John Lennon, Mick Jagger.

I've had a big crush on his voice before I was aged enough to notice his sex appeal (actually, I didn't think he had any for many years).
I've been listening to it for much too long and will always .
