1. Star Trek XI - I'm such a Star Trek nerd and I can't wait for this movie to come out!

2. The Dark Knight - Granted the pic piqued my interest even further and I don't mind hearing all the local news reports about them filming the movie in Chicago....but I'm mainly interested to see how good the characters are in this movie.

3. The Simpsons Movie - I've liked what I've seen from the trailers and I'm also kinda excited to see this one.

Batman
Sin City 2
Transformers.

Also can't wait for the Song of Fire and Ice series that HBO picked up. George RR Martin's books, on which it's based, are brilliant.

Lance, Titanic a masterpiece?

I agree with your choices though, along with Transformers and Sin City 2.

Lots of great picks so far. I'm also looking forward to The Assassination of Jesse James, The Golden Compass, and Across the Universe.

But yeah, Titanic is a masterpiece. It's far from being the best movie ever made, but it's both a technological marvel set behind a classic if not melodramatic love story. Love it or hate it the film was a milestone for cinema.

Though strangely, I almost always forget about it when I think about Cameron's work. I'll be like "Damn, you know, one of these days Cameron's going to get an Oscar for his work!" I think he deserved it though.

If nothing else, I like to think Titanic gave Cameron the complete and utter freedom to do WHATEVER he wants for the rest of his career...which he certainly has been doing. Heck, he's even single-handedly destroyed Christianity since then.

It's very much style over substance. But since you're a James Cameron fan, you should have no problem with that.

j/k

I can't even think about 5 years, but off the top of my head I'd say A Mighty Heart, Oceans 13, and if they ever do a LOTR related movie again.

3. The Dark Knight - Not a big Batman aficionado, but this movie looks really cool. Wow.

2. The Hobbit - One of my favorite books in movie form and, if the same staff who created the other LoTR movies is still there, it should be amazing. Due in 2009.

1. The Simpsons Movie - My favorite television series of all time is finally about to release their movie; ten years in the making! I'm not expecting a masterpiece or anything, but I'm expecting a really strong film from a show that I know can still be funny. 11 of the show's writers from the classic years are coming back to write for it, so that should help. 7.27.07, bitches.

Nowhere near as hard as the Futurama movies will surely suck. They can't even write a single funny episode, let alone a whole movie.

Also, I've heard a full-length Family Guy movie is in the works. Can you imagine what that will be like? There will be a cut-away every 11 seconds and will slowly make you go blind. The movie will have no plot, just a string of an idea with more excuses for cut-aways and sex jokes. Mmm.

Family Guy is horrible, but I find Futurama to be much more enjoyable than its contemporary Simpsons seasons...even some of the older ones.

A film though from any series is likely to suck.

The Simpsons movie is worrying me... It will either kick ass or suck ass, what I am hoping is that the recent crappiness of the show is directly caused by the extra effort being put into the movie and all the really funny gags are being saved for the movie

My most anticipated are:

Indiana Jones 4 - I'm a sucker for Harrison Ford in the Fedora

Sin City 2 -

Army Of The Dead - Zack Snyder is doing a sequel of his Dawn Of The Dead remake using the technology he used for 300...

Burn After Reading - The Coen Brothers + George Clooney and Brad Pitt and John Malcovich...

There are probably more that I am forgetting as well...
