Hey Ax, just listening to Captive for the first time tonight, and I enjoy it muchly. Though my brother noted that Rowena's Theme has similarities to SBS. That actually slipped past me the first listen.

Also ... you don't want to hear what I thought of the Beach Boys songs being played when I was in JB yesterday. You just don't.
Now that you mention it, I can't think of anything particularly lousy except for a bit of crude stuff carved into Z1 tram windowsills. I once saw a "FAGZ" and a "FUK YOU". Most of it just seems to be illegible tags, though there's a small "SLAYER ROCKS" by my tram stop.
Sadly at Surrey Hills (Melb) station some toolcarved the Take That logo into the toilet door.
Oh dear. Aren't we hardcore.
BTW it saddens me I recognised the logo straight away.

I can't think of the titles now. One was about Californian girls (can't say I'd be shocked if that were the title), and another one started with some lyrics about how we should all go surfing, but I imagine that describes half their discography.
It was just ... so pop-y. I couldn't take it. It was like Stuck In A Moment on happy pills and steroids.
Next time you're in Melbourne, hopefully the Z1 trams will still be in service, because I promise you, you will surely find crude and lousy graffiti of all kinds carved into the windowsills. Plus plenty of J.K. <3 R.L. kind of crap.

I'm a total image hack! I love taking photos, but with my vision, I can't tell you what's good or not, and I'm certainly not the person you want messing with images. Setlists are much safer territory! I actually got into them before going to any gigs and before I began bootleg trading - I was just fascinated by what the band chose to play live over the years, and elevation-tour.com was an awesome way to waste study lessons at high school. I memorised so much of the site that the guy who owns it asked me to help run it and now it's the U2VT/U2gigs.com that I go on about.
Eek, that's shitty - and sounds exactly like a lot of dodgy Internet stories I've heard in Australia. I was very thankful I was within range (just!) for DSL back on the Gold Coast, because Telstra (who I call Telscum) wanted ... I think it was $22,000 to lay a cable to our suburb. We pretty much told them to get fucked and went with the DSL. If I ever went out of DSL range, I'd certainly go back to dial-up rather than deal with Telscum. The big telecommunications companies seem to be terrible. I'm with a smaller ISP who give simply stunning service and I recommend them (Internode) to anybody in Australia.
I always wish that I had straight hair, but alas, it 'froes out and I get at least an inch or two out of it when I let it grow for about three months. Helps my October-era Adam look ...
I love editing photos of mostly anything. U2 just seems to be my main iconing subject since I love to collect pictures of them and things like that. But I've also found that I love making stock icons (like from photos off the sea, sky, or even of food and drink.) quite a lot too. So I am sure I would have tons of fun if I were able to take my own pics in the realm of iconing! I am a total art nerd. I love to edit photos, draw and that sort of thing.
I can see how setlists could definitely be fascinating. Mind you I am still wondering how some of the songs that I quite liked live in earlier eras (from youtube vids. Again, when I still had broadband.) dropped out of sight completely in the more recent ones!
That is how internet seems to work in small areas, as I've noticed. I've lived where I am my entire life and got my first computer when I was 18 and a half, so it hasn't been very long for me. I didn't know that high speed wasn't really an option until a little later because I had just stuck with AOL (via a disc I picked up when I got my computer. Which is now fried, btw an I have a laptop.) and never really looked into it because it seemed such a hassle and I was happy to have at least what I had, ya know? Our phone company told us they were building a WiFi tower that would be done within 3 months (this was back in like August of 2006) and it never did get done! So I am not holding my breath for that! There is a company though that offers high speed without phone or cable but it's so pricey. For right now, I am just happy to have a connection! No matter how slow it is!

Ah, sigh... that sort of sunny pop, yes. Unfortunately, a lot of people think that's the limit to the Beach Boys and don't bother with even listening to Pet Sounds just because they expect all the songs to be about surfing. I think it's funny that Surf's Up is called Surf's Up at all, since it has nothing to do with surfing, is beautifully melancholic and is the best song ever written blah blah blah. There's a point in the sixties where the surf-pop ends and they start doing wonderful stuff, but in the seventies during hardships there was some reverting back to the old ways, or at worst, Brian Wilson doing rock n' roll. But I can laugh at the Beach Boys failures as much as I can with those of U2. And if you ask me, some of those tracks were certainly great pop records.

It really surprises me that Internet access is so unfortunately dodgy in your area. It sounds so much like Aussie stories! There's this tendency here to look at the US, Europe, and certain Asian nations and think "sigh, why can't we have Internet as good as that?" The low density, spread-out population of Australia, plus the massive costs associated with linking this part of the world to the rest of the planet, means that Internet access is damn expensive and technological innovations take longer. I think your situation could be any number of rural towns here in Victoria!

You know, I actually have Pet Sounds on my external hard drive. Maybe I should give it another listen sometime just to form a proper opinion about it. I only played it once and it didn't really strike me. But certainly not right now, since I'm tired and in a bit of a ... weird mood that is causing me to listen to both very intense death metal and very atmospheric sprawling stuff at the other end of the musical spectrum. Shame nobody here really digs metal, because I've some awesome stuff to push onto anybody who does. Wait, Ravva does. Will have to hope she shows up tomorrow.

I haven't used MS Paint since high school!
I used to just use icons other people made until I was able to make my own because I failed (and still do fail) to operate paint!
And I prefer to use my own stuff because like you said, I made it and I am proud to say that, even if they aren't as good as others. The icon I'm using on here right now, I had an animated version of (with the text from my location) but interference said we couldn't use animated icons! That was quite the surprise to me because I used one before. (Animated snow.)And thanks, I'll keep that in mind! The only one I really wonder about for the time being is Ultraviolet anyway, but a lot of the Zoo era stuff disappeared in later eras anyway so I figured that's why, plus it seemed like they had a problem playing it proper live. I'm just quite partial to that song since it's my favourite. And I really wish they'd play it again!
I think internet access is like this in all small areas in the bigger countries. Since a lot of older people live in areas like this, or poor people, there aren't very many people who have computers (in fact, I only know a handful), so there isn't a lot of demand for internet, therefore, most get by with just providing dial up. Then the higher speed stuff is always ridiculously over priced. Well, that's my best stab at it anyway. But like I say, I am glad to have at least this even though I would prefer higher speed because dial up is such the big pain that it is.

If you were genuinely interested, I could find plenty of metal with clean vocals. Prog and power metal solely do clean vocals (though they also tend to bring the cheese), and doom metal tends to be clean too. But yeah, you're pretty tough out of luck with regards to black and death metal. Which is a shame, because what I want to push onto people is Lykathea Aflame, and their growls are easily some of the most inaccessible I've ever heard.
