I know everyone likes to talk about the weather.

Since all Europe seems to be under the influence of a tropical high, I decided to let some steam off here: It's HOT!!!

We have temperatures about 38 degrees these days (celsius, that is), with 39, possibly 40 expected on Friday.

Living in the city, man that sucks! I need this:

I can't concentrate, can't sleep at night. I'm only hanging around in the shadows of some park trees, trying not to move too much, drinking about 5 litres of water a day.

How is the weather like where you guys live and how are you dealing with it?

It is freeeezing here. It's been getting down to 3 or 4 degrees (celsius) at night and around 11 or 12 during the day. It hasn't been cold like this here for a few years. Lots of layers, beanies and slippers are the go at the moment.

Last summer we had hot weather like yours. I hated it too. I spent the summer rushing from air conditioned house to air con car to air con at work.
:shifty:

Yes, thank God for air con, I have that in my office as well but not in my appartment. It's bad for the environment, but good for you (unless you're sensitive, then it can be a bad thing).

We've had this crazy hot July weather for the last couple of summers now, in August it's almost always raining, often heavily with floods and all.

I think we need new smilies for sweating European people right now:

Monday was pure horror here. I'm sure in the sun it was over 40°c easily, and in the shadows above 30°C.
Yesterday was a bit better, and so is today.
Have to get prepared for my last exam, which is next Saturday. Yes, right, Saturday. :eyebrow:

Hopefully August stays nice. And I wish you good luck that there are no floods this year.

^ Wow, 27C, that's refreshing!!!

And Vinc, I wish you luck for your exam! Saturday, that sucks! And studying with temperatures like these certainly isn't the greatest thing one can do.

It's going to be 70F. I hate the sun and hot weather. My ideal weather is a foggy or cloudy day with temperatures at 58-65degrees F. with a little wind. The only time I will accept a clear sunny day is if there is a cool breeze, if there isn't I stay indoors most of the time.

We had our heat wave in Vancouver last week and the week before. It was up to around 40C where I live at times. I love the heat, but that was a little unbearable. Now it's gone back to the rain. Hopefully that won't last too long. :D

It's hot here too in San Diego, CA. But not unbearably. I was in Las Vegas a few weeks ago where it was 112 F and the day after I left my brother said it was over 120F at his house, so I really can't complain. I hope you guys can stay cool!

It's raining sooooo hard in New York...during my mornign commute my pants got soaked up to my knees and the sidewalks were flowing like rivers. A few of the subway lines flooded out.... It's going to be a rainy weekend in the northeast.

Last Unicorn, where is that fountain?

The humidity in the Philly area is really bad. I also live in one of the worst allergy counties in the entire world, compounding problems.

Thank God for air conditioning and Zyrtec.

If there is ever a global environmental holocaust, Florida will be the first to go. :yikes:

Muggy, humid, and hot?

Faaantastic.

Wow, so much rain in New York, wasn't it very hot there just days ago?

The fountain is in Marienbad, a beautiful little town between Vienna and Prague with a very famous and old spa. We have a lot of nice fountains in Vienna, too, they are mostly with angels and all sorts of mythological figures. The heat makes you want to just jump in.

What is Vegas like in early October ... :businesstriptosincity:

Oct is one of the better months for Vegas weather. I think it's around 80's daytime and 50's nighttime. However the climate is always the same inside the casinos year round

Oh and that's Farenheit!

Last week NY was upper 90sF. It's now a bearable temperature, just you'll get soaked!

Yeah I loved Vienna's fountains. Boston, my hometown, has several good ones including a huge one that people jump into when it gets hot.

Well, 80°C would surprise me quite a bit.
It would be 176F.

It's nice here at the moment, 89 (feels low compared to lately). It's pretty cloudy though, but it just won't rain. I don't think we've had rain....in a month. I like the humidity b/c my dry skin heals and my hair curls. I don't so much like it when all of the carpet in our apartment constantly feels damp and there's condensation on the walls, but that's why I rent - someone else can deal with the damage :D

And I maintain that dry heat is not as bad as humid heat. I went to Tanzania during their hottest summer month, and they are within 5 degrees of the equator, and it was not NEAR as bad as when it's 95 and humid here (and their dry heat vs. southern Florida....no comparison!). I was very pleasantly surprised at how much difference dryness does make.

^agreed! I love visiting my brother in Vegas. Living on the ocean in San Diego frizzes my hair, but in Vegas no humidity, no frizz!
