My girls and I were eating at Don and Charlies a popular resturant in Scottsdale where occassionally professional athletes visit.

Luis Gonzalez an Az Diamondback coincidently was there this evening.
We were both arriving at the same time.
Upon entering we eyed eachother and exchanged 'hellos'. I said he looked well and it would good to see him. He said it was would good to see me too.

He next starting smiling at my daughters and went out of his way to shake their hands.
He was congenial, pleasant and sweet.
His fatherly traits came out.
He is genuinely a wonderful person.

Later in the evening as we were waiting for the valet Luis emerged w/his wife and kids. Again he saw my kids and espcially locked on to my younger child and asked her how her dinner was-
Sydney replied-"It was awesome Gonzo" and turned beet red.

He said "Thats great"

Next fans started hording around for autographs, and my girls decided they wanted one.

He signed his autographs and my Jeep pulled up and we were off.

A nice night.

I remember when Luis Gonzalez was on the Cubs...came over from Houston with Scott Servais in exchange for Rick Wilkins I think. Haha, that trade didn't work out too well for the Astros.

I liked him well enough. He really broke out with the Diamondbacks though -- was never that good with the Cubbies.
