I remember when I was small my parents rented his stand-up video for me as I loved his TV show and the movie. But his stand-up act was a bit dirty, lol. The thing I remember is when he and his friend put mirrors on his shoes to look up Miss Ivan's dress.

Oh, and Phil Hartman as the Sea Captain. Classic. He wrote the movie with Paul Ruebens I believe.

and remember guys, this was Danny Elfman's first Major Movie score!!!!!

I was 8 years old when this movie came out, and I have it on dvd, along with big top pee wee, and season 1 and 2 of Pee wee's Playhouse. The only part I hate is, when he wastes the breakfast that he made with his assembly line of toys, that breakfast always makes me hungry.

This was just on Bravo the other night... I started watching it out of nostalgia, but fell asleep before PeeWee made it to the Alamo. :(

Definately an 80's classic.

On another note, a little off track, it was 25 years ago that John Hinckley shot President Reagan. I remember it because it was the Monday of the Academy Awards and my nephew Eddie and I were in the grandstands and then they postponed them because the President got shot. So we sat there all day for nothing.

Reuters -"Pee-wee's Playhouse" is returning to television.

Adult Swim, Cartoon Network's late-night sister network, said Monday that it has acquired rights to all 45 half-hour episodes of the series, along with "Pee-wee's Playhouse Christmas Special." It plans to air the show at 11 p.m. Monday-Thursday starting July 10.

Adult Swim said many of the episodes have not aired on TV since the original 1986-91 run of "Pee-wee's Playhouse" on CBS' Saturday morning schedule. Pee-wee Herman alter ego Paul Reubens' career was derailed in 1991 when he was arrested for indecent exposure at a Florida porn movie theater.

The show features Pee-wee Herman welcoming various characters to his playhouse. Among the cast members are Phil Hartman, Laurence Fishburne, S. Epatha Merkerson and Natasha Lyonne.

"I'd say this was a dream come true, but I never dared to dream the 'Playhouse' would join Adult Swim's amazing lineup of cool shows!" Reubens said. "Well, maybe I did dream of it a couple of times. OK, it's a dream come true!"

"Pee-wee's Playhouse" won 22 Emmys during its original run. A complete DVD set was released in 2004.

He looks a lot different w/o the make up and red bow tie

Have you ever seen him in the 1992 movie 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' with Kristy Swanson and Donald Sutherland ??

I remember seeing that movie when it came out and I just could not believe that the vampire assistant, Amilyn, was indeed casted as our own original Paul Reubens (without the Pee-Wee look)

His actual looks were frightening !!

His death scene in that movie, where he keeps squirming & just won't die was hilarious. Matter of fact, the whole damn movie was a riot... it was certainly a pleasant surprise when I sat down to watch it.

And as far as other "Paul Reubens" roles, don't forget he was the Penguin's father in the second Batman movie.... if you count 10 seconds on screen as a 'role'. :giggle:

"Shhhhh....I'm trying to use THE PHONE!!!!!"

God, every time I think of that line, and especially the look on his face when the bikers start walking over to him, I start to crack up. Absolutely priceless!
