If, while you are using Instant Messenger (or any other messenger program) and you get this message from someone...

For God's sake DO NOT CLICK IT. I just got an IM from someone on this board whom I didn't recognize at first. So I asked her who she was before clicking on it. Turns out she didn't send it at all. :silent: Damn virus :madspit:

unfortunately i think i clicked on it
but i'm not sure if i did cuz it didn't do anything...

i'm trying to find out from dell support if there's a fix for it...

first spyware problems this week now this...my computer's still f*cked up from the spyware problems (at least dell thinks it's a spyware problem)

:banghead: :scream:

Thanks cleasai!

Just to let you know...

An adware program is spreading quickly.

Here's a link that describes it:
http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_101007.htm

Basically it sends a link to wgutv.com, which masquerades as a news
viewer, but is really a flash game that installs spyware. Then it
sends messages to everyone on your buddy list.

" ...In addition, the Software will interoperate with your current
instant messaging client so as to permit the automatic sending of
advertising messages originating from your Computer to your contact or
"buddy" list regarding Content offered by PSD Tools or its
suppliers. If you desire to stop this activity, you may elect to stop
the messages by navigating to the "buddylinks.net" entry in your
"Start Menu", selecting the "buddylinks.net Configuration" item, and
unchecking the appropriate option. You may also refer to PSD Tools'
website at http://www.psdtools.com for an uninstaller"

this reminds me i still need to kill my roommate for sending it to me..and then me accidentally to abel and cleasai...

i clicked on the link, but didnt allow the program to download

whoever came up with this one is pretty smart

ok i just tried the link abel posted

i found what it told me to find and i deleted it

what exactly did the thing DO other than send itself to other people?

This is what happened...

CNN: IM game spreads virulent ad-delivery software

(abel, thank you for the link, i got this sucker.. i removed it fine but i didn't know if i did it correctly, erased one last file from a tip on that site)

i got this from Arun, lol, an i thought it was legit. i did figure out how to turn off the 'send IM's to your buddys' which seemed like it worked but i just didn't trust it. fun game tho. before i removed it, a friend said 'ok' to me an i said 'what?' that was weird.

lol. anything that requires you to install something on a website... well... if its not flash... or microsoft... id give a 2nd and 3rd thought to installing.

I believe it installs spyware and/or adware automatically.
