I've been in a big VU phase lately and want to dive a bit into their solo careers. Where should I start?

I've been think of maybe picking up Transformer and Paris 1919 to start out with, but I'm not totally sure yet because I'm an indecisive music whore.

Suggestions?

If you get really into Lou Reed, his 3-disc box set is worth picking up. The versions of Heroin and Here Comes the Bride on the second disc are mind-blowing, and of course iTunes doesn't have them. I also like his more recent album (late 90s, I think), Set the Twilight Reeling. Transformer is definitely the one to start with, though.
