So what is the song's theme? I heard it was about drugs, but I sense there is more. Thoughts?

UNDER PRESSURE: David Bowie/Queen

Pressure pushing down on me
Pressing down on you no man ask for
Under pressure - that burns a building down
Splits a family in two
Puts people on street

It's the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends
Screaming let me out
Pray tomorrow - gets me higher
Pressure on people - people on streets

Chippin' around - kick my brains around the floor
These are the days it never rains but it pours
People on streets - people on streets

It's the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends
Screaming let me out
Pray tomorrow - gets me higher
Pressure on people - people on streets

Turned away from it all like a blind man
Sat on a fence but it don't work
Keep coming up with love but it's so slashed and torn

Why - why - why
Love

Insanity laughs under pressure we're cracking
Can't we give ourselves one more chance
Why can't we give love
Cos love's such an old fashioned word
And love dares you to care for
The people on the edge of the night
And love dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves
This is our last dance
This is our last dance
This is ourselves
Under pressure
Under pressure
Pressure

I think its about Pressure.

Like the pressure to come up with an original beat to your upcoming rap single "Ice Ice Baby" so you can become a white rapper superstar.

I persoanlly thought I'd died an gone to heaven when this was released

an excerpt from my little Queen book, it doesn't refer to lyric meaning,
"...Six years after "Bohemian Rhapsody", Queen clocked up their second UK Number 1 single, "under pressure...rated by roger Taylor as "one of the very best things we have done."
The Bowie link happened because he lived near the studio and sometimes popped over for a neighbourly drink. "Someone suggested we should all go into the studio and play around one night and see what came out," explained Brian May. "The next night, we listened to the tapes, picked out a couple of pieces and worked on one particular idea." That became Under Pressure...."

Have you seen Freddie's Memorial concert? Annie Lennox sings that song with David Bowie. She is wearing the eye make-up like the owman in the "breakthru" film clip, another Queen song I really love
"..if I could only reach you
if I could make you smi-le
if I could only reach you
that would really be a breakthru...oh yeah":)
After they sing the song and Annie leaves the stage david drops to his knees and recites the Lord's Prayer...the old version I grew up with.

Golly gingoes I have the book open here. I still cry when I see pics of him. What a sad sad loss to the world....but as Freddie's mum said to Ben Elton
"rock on"

"......those were the days of our lives
when bad things in life were so few
those days are gone now
but one thing is true
when I look
and I find
I still love
you..."

You see they are 2 totally different beats:
theirs goes "din din din din din da da din din"
and mine goes "din din din din din da da din din"
see...totally different.
