Not the best "best of 2002" list I've seen. I thought NME's list was pretty good. Even Spin and Rolling Stone were better than this one.

I have only two off the list ,Demolition and Jerusalem...actually I've not gotten into either one of them yet...

I blame Coldplay.......

Yeah, this list if different to say the least, I only have a handful of these albums too. However, it encourages me to check out some new stuff , thats why I posted it mostly.

btw...the list was longer.....Coldplay was #61

I'm glad they included Neko Case's new Album, Blacklisted...she is a very nice song writer indeed! and canadian

and that's
BOARDS of Canada
and that album, geogaddi is very very cool....another must listen

Please please PLEASE tell me you were joking...

I think it's the best list we'll get out of a fairly well-known magazine.

Paul Westerberg - Stereo/Mono was my album of the year, followed by Alice (Tom Waits) and YHF (Wilco.)

very good list, indeed.

coldplay wasnt on there because they are boring, and will be considered as posers 3 years from now.

woops, did i just say that?

with coldplay you get

a) slow
b) slow and boring
c) super slow, ultra boring
d) slow and uncreative
e) slow, and unoriginal
f) slow and retro boring

dear me, did i just write that again? oh my.

but back to the list, i think its quite good.

as for the person who said rolling stone and spins lists were better (thank you mug for beeting me to it), you have to be kidding me.

I feel sorry for the guy that accidentally left out Riot Act by Pearl Jam from the list...........

Hmmm. I own four of these.

But, at least they're all in the top 15. :)

If it were up to me Wilco would be ranked even higher. And so would Coldplay. But overall, it's a good list, and I agree - it does encourage me to check out even more new stuff. (Like I need to spend more money on music... :D )

kind of seem they left out a lot of popular albums cos popular just isnt cool for critics anymore. The NME list went the other way I think and just named everyone who sold a lot of records. Somewhere in between would be nice, acknowledge upcoming and alternative talent, as well as the artists that have produced good music and shifted units.

Good to see Gemma Hayes in the list though, albeit slightly down the order
