TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain

I might be starting to believe that this album is as good as their debut

which would make them the bestest new thing in music since Mozart

any fans?

It's not out in the US yet, but I found an import the other day. Only listened to two tracks from it so far, but both I and HG were in some ways thinking we liked those tracks even more than their debut. Look forward to hearing the whole thing.

I listened to a couple more tracks since posting this and it is actually better than their debut

Very cool. They have certainly gotten a number of good reviews for the album. I'll post more thoughts once I have the chance to hear the entire thing.

Salome, I just listened to it in full the first time through and I DEFINITELY like it more than their debut. Much more, actually. Great CD, I really wasn't expecting it to be this good. Look forward to hearing it more.

I think so far this is my album of the year and it has been a pretty good year in music (well, I think so anyway)

this album contains just about everything I look for in music

HOLLA

I can't stop listening to this album. 'I Was a Lover' is seemingly always in my head, for some reason I love how he delivers the line, "And we don't make eye contact". The rest of the album is pretty much just as good as that song too, I wasn't expecting to like it all so much.

Looking forward to hearing more impressions when it's released in North America.

EDIT:

Oh yeah, also liking Bowie's subtle backing vocals in 'Providence'. 'A Method', 'Wolf Like Me', 'Hours', 'Tonight', etc. are more present favorites. The whole thing is good.

According to Amazon, it comes out in a month for North America. Hope you can find it cheap!

"Dirty Whrilwind" is

it's almost my favorite album of the year, Islands is still my favorite; this is better than "Desperate Youth..." and that was a great record

I don't have their albums, but this year at Coachella I was just wandering about and I went into the Gobi tent or Mojave tent or whatever, anyway, TV On The Radio ended up being the next band and I'd never heard of them before and they just blew me away. By the end of their set I was jumping up and down and screaming for an encore.

I still haven't bought their albums (because I read somwhere that their "live" sound is changed and substantially different from the recorded material off the first album). However, based upon Coachella performance alone, I told my friend I'd go see Massive Attack with him in September at the Hollywood Bowl, where TV On The Radio are opening. I am so excited and can't wait to go.

Hopefully, I'll have "Return to Cookie Mountain" by then and the concert will just floor me!

Just got it yesterday and . . .

OMG! "I Was A Lover" SOOOOOOOOO good!!!!

Rolling Stone once described Underworld's music as "gorgeous noise", and I kind of feel the same way about this album. It has such a discord and slightly out of tone quality to it, but it all blends together to create such gorgeous melodies.

I LOVE the experimentation. Reminds me of Bjork's "Medulla" or parts of "Amnesiac" . . . really avante garde kind of stuff, but with soul. Well, I'm sure there's way more avant garde music out there, I just don't know about it.

Anyway, HUGE applause from me for this album.

I'm even MORE EXCITED now to see them on the 24th!!!!!!!!!!
