Goddamnit, Khan! You took so bloody long making that thread that I finally got impatient and just made this one, right as you made yours!

Carried over from the last thread...

I think the idea is that he was a child in the sense of how people refuse to accept manhood or grow up.

"Pin and mount me like a butterfly" is like do anything that you will to me but I need you.

:hmm: And their relationship caused him to settle down and become a man? I guess I could see that.

BTW, I like the song quite a bit, though I tend to prefer later Smiths works over the first album.

My boyfriend and I don't even have a song. I dunno, it's never come up. I might pick Good Enough by Evanescence, because it's such a beautiful song. Not sure what he'd pick.

But oddly, it seems like every time we go to this one book store where they play country music, Our Song by Taylor Swift comes on, which makes me tempted to pick it:

YouTube - Our Song Official Video By Taylor Swift

I look around, turn the radio down
He says, "Baby, is something wrong?"
I say "Nothing, I was just thinking,
How we don't have a song."

And he says, "Our song is the slam of screen doors
Sneaking out late, tapping on your window
When we're on the phone and you talk real slow
'cause it's late and your mama don't know.

Our song is the way you laugh
The first date, man I didn't kiss her and I should have
And when I got home, before I said 'amen'
Asking God if He could play it again."

I dunno, I think it's cute :cute:

I sort of relate because my therapist insists that I need to grow up and stop being a child.

I prefer later Smiths works too. Though live versions of Miserable Lie are amazing. That song might creep some people out though because it is Morrissey's "having genitals are a cruel joke" anthem.

Damn, we took a long time to get back to this shitty thread!

I don't really want to ever have a single "song" for a relationship. It would be completely tainted for me if something went wrong. :sigh:

I would, of course, like to have similar musical interests with a person that I could potentially spend the rest of my life with. That would be nice.

I actually randomly came across this river earlier today, hence remembering to ask Khan to bring the thread back. Turns out the victim in one of New Zealand's unsolved missing persons cases was last seen at the mouth of the Tutaekuri.

Yeah, two prior relationships have nearly ruined two good songs for me. In both cases, it was a long time before I was able to listen to the song again. It was made worse (in both cases) by the guys in question choosing to sing said songs to me

When I get into relationships I am going stay friends when we break up. Then the songs will be a remind of that friendship.

Say that all you want. That's what Kate and I thought would happen. Ha.

These things are never a given.
