Alright, I'd like to give this a shot. Tough choices! And I have a feeling Into The Wild may crack this list when I see it. I'm sure I've probably forgotten some movies.

1. United 93
2. Rabbit-Proof Fence
3. Mystic River
4. Lost In Translation
5. House of Sand and Fog
6. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
7. Before Sunset
8. The Good Girl
9. Hotel Rwanda
10. Maria Full of Grace
11. Broken Flowers
12. Omagh
13. Sideways
14. Whale Rider
15. Amelie

Other movies that earned consideration, because I rated them 5 stars on Netflix:

Babel
The Closet
Garden State
Good Night and Good Luck
North Country
Notes On A Scandal
Runaway Jury
The Sea Inside
The Secret Life of Words
Skins
Syriana
Thirteen
Walk The Line
Chocolat
The Last King of Scotland
Minority Report
Bobby
World Trade Center
Insomnia
Garden State
Cold Mountain
Notes On A Scandal
The Pianist

It is pretty brutal.

The Independent Film Channel shows a lot of Asian horror films like it.

Yeah, but that was more than made up for by listing The Dreamers (very close to making my list) and Talk to Her.

Traffic (Soderbergh, 2000)
In America (Sheridan, 2002)
25th Hour (Spike Lee, 2002)
Mystic River (Eastwood, 2003)
Gangs of New York (Scorsese, 2002)
Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Jackson, 2001)
Big Fish (Burton, 2003)
Zodiac (Fincher, 2007)
The Constant Gardener (Meirelles, 2005)
Minority Report (Spielberg, 2002)
United 93 (Greengrass, 2006)
Adaptation (Jonze, 2002)
The Royal Tenenbaums (Wes Anderson, 2001)
Requiem for a Dream (Aronofsky, 2000)
Children of Men (Cuaron, 2006)
O Brother, Where Art Thou? (Coen Brothers, 2000)
I Heart Huckabees (Russell, 2004)
Kingdom of Heaven (Ridley Scott, 2005)
A History of Violence (Cronenberg, 2005)
Atonement (Wright, 2007)
Insomnia (Nolan, 2002)

That's off the top of my head, I need to take out a few and put them in some sort of order, but I gotta, run. Editing later on. I also need to decide on which Spielberg, Eastwood, and Ridley Scott films to be there, so tough this decade has been quite strong. I've seen plenty of strong films that aren't going to make my list as these are ones that are also very much worth repeat viewings for one reason or another, there are films that are mind blowing experiences but just aren't something you can do again or get the same satisifaction from on repeats.

I forgot Road to Perdition (I really need to watch that again, it's been years), wow 2002 was a strong year.

4. Traffic

6. Big Fish
7. The Constant Gardener
8. Minority Report
9. In America
10. Zodiac
11. Kingdom of Heave (DC)
12. Gangs of New York
13. Requiem for a Dream
14. The Royal Tenenbaums
15. Atonement (after one viewing)

I'll leave this, I don't know how happy I am with this, or how representative it really is, especially after such a long day, and besides new movies in theaters I've been kind of in a drought lately because I don't have time to watch anything

Has anyone ever attended a major festival, like Cannes, New York, Sundance, Toronto, SxSW, or Venice?

I really want to hit SxSw or Toronto someday.
