I'm assuming you never read the original novel?

If you haven't, and you still enjoy Spielbergs movie, I'd reccomend you never do. He butchered just about everything that made the novel interesting and captivating.

I don't think Stevie ruined War of the Worlds, but Captain Xenu did.

He also ruined the rewatchability of almost all of his movies, same with Mel Gibson.

Martin Scorcese

1. Taxi Driver
2. Goodfellas
3. Raging Bull
4. The Last Temptation of Christ
5. Gangs of New York

Joe Dante (makes extremely enjoyable movies)

1. Innerspace
2. The 'burbs
3. Gremlins
4. Gremlins 2: The New Batch
5. Small Soldiers

John Carpenter

1. Big Trouble in Little China
2. The Thing
3. Escape from New York
4. Halloween
5. They Live!

you are correct.

Irvin Kershner directed The Empire Strikes Back and Richard Marquaand directed Return of the Jedi.

He did direct THX 1138 and American Graffiti though, if you need replacements.
