favorite albums of today

Neutral Milk Hotel - In an Aeroplane Over the Sea

What a fantastic album. An indie classic.

Here's my top 11 (at the moment, and the one album per artist thing knocks out a couple of Bob Dylan records - Freewheelin' and Blood On The Tracks, and possibly Radiohead's Hail To The Thief):

1. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan
2. Kid A - Radiohead
3. Sticky Fingers - The Rolling Stones
4. IV - Led Zeppelin
5. The Fitzgerald - Richmond Fontaine
6. Achtung Baby - U2
7. In The Aeroplane Over The Sea - Neutral Milk Hotel
8. Is This It - The Strokes
9. Funeral - Arcade Fire
10. Illinois - Sufjan Stevens
11. Takk... - Sigur Ros

(and on a good day, a personal favourite that might sneak in would be Jacksonville City Nights by Ryan Adams)

Interestingly, that appears to include a hell of a lot of recent stuff. Not intentional I promise.

Next week I'll have another list, surely

Anyway, here's my attempt at the quintessential Rock list:

1- The Beatles - Revolver
2- Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited
3- George Harrison - All Things Must Pass
4- Radiohead - Ok Computer
5- Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon
6- Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV
7- Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
8- The Who - Who's Next
9- Queen - A Night At The Opera
10-Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway
11-Yes - Close To The Edge

List Number 2

12-Cat Stevens - Tea For Tillerman
13-Deep Purple - Machine Head
14-Black Sabbath - Paranoid
15-Creedence Clearwater Revival - Green River
16-Rush - Moving Pictures
17-The Doors - The Doors
18-REM - Automatic For The People
