Quesadillas a la Axver are so un-Mexican that they include salami.

:ohmy: I did not know that. Rochester they close at 2 as far as I know.

If you want to drink around the clock, just come to Crown Casino in Melbourne, where apparently NOTHING EVER FUCKING CLOSES!

Large scale global geography, fine. I have a very good Traveller IQ on Facebook, thank you :p

But many particulars of inner-USA geography escape me... Especially if I don't know anyone in that area. :D

lol oh man... did you try for universities in warmer areas??

i looked, but this is a premiere program and it really stands out from the rest. i also met most of the people in the department and they loved me. we got along great. i'm really looking forward to working with them.

But Buffalo's big enough that U2 have played gigs there on recent tours!

That's cool then! Do you know anybody else in Buffalo or Rochester?

:lol: no i don't. hopefully i can win friends with my stunning looks and irresistible charm

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Oh I'm sure you'll make friends! :)

I was working full-time up there and all my colleagues (pretty much) were married with kids and never went out much. So it kinda sucked. I did have a few drinking buddies though. Plus I had a girlfriend down in Jersey so I had no reason to go out. (well... for picking up girls at least, lol)

But you're in a university setting. It should be fun! :yippie:

:lol: not so sure about that, but i tend to mix things and stuff myself. whatever floats your boat or finds your lost remote!

:laugh:

Yeah, I like to just throw stuff together and see what I come up with. That's how I ended up using Worcestershire sauce all the time. It was sitting around getting no use, so I thought "hey, this might add something to my bolognese sauce!" Now it ends up in just about anything that I cook in a pot ...

oh that's for damn sure! i'm hoping to make it to at least one msg gig though.

MSG??? :lol: MSG is a thousand miles away from Buffalo!

That's one of the things I did not like about living up there. NYC was too far!

This also makes my tenuous Mexican connection wince.

Mexican food I tried in Chicago:
Fruit cocktail = :up: (basically, bag of assorted fresh fruit pieces, with lime juice and salt (which amazingly works)... no chilli for this gringo)

Cactus = :up:

Cactus fruit = :up: (I don't know why we didn't just EAT all the prickly pear that invaded the country... that stuff tastes GOOD)

Quesadillas = :up:

Some sort of tamale things = :up:

Evil super-hot innocent-looking carrot of DOOM = :down: :down: (I am sure no human being has ever turned redder than I did)

Psh. It's a marriage of two good food cultures.

You haven't seen me sunburnt then! :wink:

And ... cactus?! The spiky nasty desert plants? :yikes:

i heard i can get a bus or a plane for pretty cheap though. is that true?

Yeah I'm sure there will be ways to get there! It'll just take a few hours, lol. Anyway, since you're in a university setting, it'll be easier to plan things out. I was doing 50 plus hours a week like a slave :| so it was hard for me to do long distance trips.

lime and salt are my fav "seasons" to add to food. it is so basic yet it doesn't take away from the food's natural flavor.

Sad but true.

I'm still amazed by that. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, but I am. I lived in Queensland with its "everything's shut by midnight!" mentality for too long.

i'm thinking a 6 or 7 hour bus ride is a great way to get some reading done :D
