Taking pictures of the dead was, actually, extremely common in the nineteenth century when photography was first invented.

I find it funny how the 20th/21st centuries find it repulsive, but none of us here are the center of the universe, and if this brings some people comfort during their loss, then who are any of us to object? It's their child and it's their life.
