there was an interview with Mick Byrne (any irish, you should know, but for anyone else, he is the physio for ireland football team-but so much more than that- friend, mentor, godfather of the team) on 2fm the other day.
He was asked what was the most important thing he would take to Japan with him, and instead of saying some medical physio cream type thing, he said... "The Joshua Tree"!
"The lads would absolutely murder me if i forgot "The Joshua Tree" " he said. "Just before every match, in the dressing room, we turn "With Or Without You" on and every fella on the team sings their hearts out to it".. every fella apart from Roy Keane, presumably!
Anyway, i nearly fell out of my standing. I really think this is the coolest thing ever. i just got a mental pic of them all singin to it, and it gave me a shiver up my spine!
y'see, its 2 of my favourite things in the world, U2 and the Irish football team, combined, and in a great way!
