For those of you have been to Vegas, what do you recommend making time to see and do while there? Of course U2 is at the top of the list, but we will be staying in the area til the following Wednesday. One of the days will be eaten up by a bus trip to the Grand Canyon. I think I would like to see Mamma Mia while we are there. Any suggestions for attractions, or best places to eat? Also we will likely be getting a rental car so we are not limited to just the strip.

Some halls inside of the Bellagio Hotel are gorgeous. It might be nice to walk through them when you both had a fine drink at one of the bars or dinner.

I'm probably not a great person to ask because I really, really don't like Vegas at all.

I liked the shopping mall thing between Caesar's Palace and the Mirage. Really nice. We don't have Victoria's Secret in Canada, so that was a treat. It's high-end though, but a nice escape from the heat.

It's a bit of a drive to Grand Canyon, maybe you'd enjoy it more if you stayed there overnight?

When I was there for the Elevation show, I went to the above mentioned exhibits/museums, I also rode the "taxi rollercoaster" at NY NY and checked out Paris.

that was fun.

In the end, I am not a gambler, so Vegas is not my deal. BUT, I know this trip is going to be something else cause I get to hang out with a cool friend and meet some Interferencers from Cali!

Oh believe me, I am not a gambler - Karl would like to be but he keeps forgetting that though I am a doctor, we are not rich! The only gambling I will be doing is at the nickel slots so I can get cheap drinks :drunk:

hang around the slots and wait for free drinks. get really drunk. get kicked out of a casino because you're drunk. drink all night. wake up and drink more. drink.

no offense to you Iris....

anitram is talking about the forum shops, and yes, its awesome. its like a mall for rich folk. i'm trying to remember now which hotel offers a tour of the catacombs beneath that whole area. it might be caesers. (a bit of trivia about caesers - there's no apostrophe because the owner wanted it to be everyone's palace, not just caeser's)

zoney is right, there is always ME to see!! but he is also right about the museums. both venetian and bellagio's got 'em. venetain also has the gondolas. hardrock is fun to browse as well, for all the costumes and guitars and stuff. mirage has the tigers and dolphins. beth might enjoy that. or the tigers at the mgm. or shark reef at mandalay. there's m&m world across from NYNY. m&m's in all different colors for eight dollars a pound - that's always fun. going to the top of the stratosphere is fun, too. not sure about the hallways in the bellagio - they're just regular hotel hallways - but the lobby is great. as are the botanical gardens. they change the flowers for every season. very romantic. make sure to see the fountains, too.

off the strip there's the ethel m chocolate factory. free tours and such. the world's largest cactus garden is located there too. red rock canyon is great for hikes, if you like that. hoover dam, maybe?

plus...there's ME! :hyper:

Things to do in Vegas...

Definetly lean on the wall out in front of the Bellagio and watch the fountains dancing to pre-recorded music.

Have a wonder around inside Mandalay Bay, it's got a nifty lobby. Also in the Mandalay Bay I believe there's a station that lets you get on a monorail that takes you around the strip - it's worth half an hour.

Don't forget to watch the FREE PIRATE FIGHT ACT THINGIE SHOW that takes place outside (I believe it's Mandalay Bay) at regular intervals.

It's just a really great atmosphere to be out and walking around at night. Nice place to visit, heck I wasn't of gambling age but I still thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Both of you are going to love that. the Canyon is just incredible. its one of the best things, most impressive, that you can see, really. Choose the right tour, there are many things you can see on the way, ok Hoover is logical,.. btw Barbra Streisand lives near there. Route 66 must be somewhere on the way too? There´s shops with Native Indian souvenirs you can take, etc.

have a good time

Don't forget to go down Fremont Street and see the light show. When we were there for Elevation, we saw an off duty Elvis impersonator eatting dinner in the Plaza diner.
I also won $75 on the slots in the Golden Nugget. Cha-ching!!
I've heard, and maybe someone can confirm or deny, that the payouts are bigger in the old section of town to draw in the tourists?
