Things you have to see and do in Vegas

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
The Paris has a nice restaraunt with outdoor seating - directly across from the Bellagio fountains.

Visiting different casinos will give you a flavor of the different target audiences.

Have a drink at the Ghost Bar (atop the Palms - I've stayed there a dozen times, but never made it to the top).

Cruise the Hard Rock - it is more of a bar than a casino. The crown is much younger and a tatoo seems to be a general requirement.

The Forum Shops make a nice walk through - but it is all high end merchandice and most of it can be found elsewhere (nothing really unique).

The Wynn is interesting from a design standpoint (he spent $$$$$) building this one. Again, worth a brief visit to get the flavor, but nothing "must see".

If you are headed out to the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam might be another quick side trip. It can be done in half a day.

BLS, where are you staying?

Thanks for the advice everyone -

We'll be at the Tropicana on Thurs and Fri night, then moving over to NYNYfor Sat thru Tues night, leave Wed and get to spend almost all of my birthday on a plane :|

1) Atomic Testing Museum
atomictestingmuseum.org

2) Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Botanical Cactus Garden (it's fun)

3) Mount Charleston (45 mins NW of the Strip) hiking, snow on the mountains, the drive up is awesome, Joshua Trees and then the trees change to pine...

4) Neon Museum

5) Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area redrockcanyonlv.org

6) Valley of Fire State Park

I was reading today about renting ATVs at the Valley of Fire park or at one of the canyons.....or to go to the dam or Lake Meade and do a boat ride tour thingie.....

But looking at this makes me kinda sea sick

haha, oh man, me too.

but the lakes here are never that rough, i promise you that. if they were, i'd never be able to get my canoe out there. i mean, look at that little guy, he's actually catching air.

:hmm: i think i might go to the library :D

:hyper:

seriously, though, for those who have a long weekend and need a crack fix and don't have laptops or whatever, the library always has free internet access.

:nerd:

THANKS! I am wondering how dead the crack might be from all the folks who are talking about being in Vegas that weekend!

I am also considering doing an ATV rental at Valley of Fire....any tips, comments, suggestions from anyone who has done this?

Rented a standard size car through Priceline for $120 (taxes and all) for the 6 days we'll be there - not too bad compared to the big rental sites :)

And I think I will definitely be looking for a library to get a (blue)crack fix

That's a good deal for the rental car, hope it is unlimited miles. I'm thinking about taking a drive Sunday to one of the canyons, Zion, Lake Mead....to get out of the "city of blinding lights" for a bit of a change of scenery, hoping the weather cooperates.
