Heres the deal:|
As a good deal of you know Ive been to hundreds upon hundreds of rock shows over the last 3 decades.:adam:

Ive been very fournate for having an older brother-(Mr Deep) that worked close in the music industry that weaned me on good music and Ive been lucky to see intricate ecclectic live acts perform up close for free, along w/major acts up close live for free.

Musically speaking,Ive been spoiled:wink:

From the BuzzCocks and Clash-
Neil Young, Yes and Zepplin luckily Ive seen I ve seen alot of talent.:)

Pete Yorn is talented for sure.
I think he is over-hyped a bit.
Maybe w/this over-hyping I expected more.

I saw-
shades of Eddie Vedder
shades of Neil Young
shades of Jim Morrison
shades of Kurt Cobain.

I was looking for the "real Pete Yorn to please stand up"...
He never arrived.

I saw nothing really original. I enjoyed a few of his songs esp a Ramones song he covered.

I saw an artist that has been packaged well and and will prolly make it.
Pete Yorn reminded me of a deecnt garage band.
Pete was not the 2nd coming of Jesus as I was told.
Pete Yorn needs a hair cut.

thank you-

i was really dissapointed in his live act and his second album, maybe I expected too much after musicforthemorningafter, which I still consider an excellent album.

Oh well, there certainly are alot worse shows to see.....

Or he's just a guy who plays rock music. So much has been made of artists being innovative or groundbreaking over the past few years that it's nice just hearing a performer play straight ahead songs.

Pete Yorn did not take me to 'that other place'..
Tom Petty has been playing straight rock n roll for 3 decades.
Tom Petty needs a hair cut too:wink:

Im sorry,Pete Yorn "Has been done already".

Until all you 20 yr olds realize what ever I say goes and that Iam your Daddy you will remain in your conflicted states:sexywink:

Digi-
that reviewer stole my words..:angry::up:--

In a way, Yorn is everything that is wrong with contemporary rock and pop. The epitome of a mediocre (but carefully packaged) soulful white boy who looks good in publicity photos, he represents something very bad and very annoying about the relationship between labels and the rock writers who make careers of regurgitating press releases

thanks

M4TMA is a great cd. I played it to death.

IMO the new one is not as solid.

music is subjective,

we do not all have to agree.

Many acts are better in the studio than live.
and vice versa
I have enjoyed many shows that friends of mine could not.
no big deal.

Me deep-
the only 2 ques that remain are..

1- have u seen him live?
2-if so what did u think?

keeping things on topic of course.:)

The review failed to mention the most important thing, the music.
Did the reviewer listen to the record? Or just look at the liner notes?

Also, does Salon ever have anything nice to say about anything?
