I knew one guy that was one of those stats people, you know? Had all the numbers memorized, studied the newspapers and all that. He would hate on the Philly teams for mathematical reasons. And there were a few "Yeah, but...maybe this guy will really come alive and...." type guys. But the majority were, "Fuck the phils, fuck philly. We're losers, we'll always be losers and they'll never win because they are losers. Fuck them." I used to think it was maybe some sort of Philadelphian reverse psychology, but it's been going on for 20+ years. So either all those dudes are insane or they really feel that way. I dunno.

Though, I recall one guy always had hope for the Flyers. Every year for about 2 months he loved the Flyers. Then I guess they sucked and that was that.

Most of us are pretty realistic about it. People are mildly excited about the Phillies. It's all in check though. The difference is that you'll rarely let Philly fans down like in other cities, because we've lost that semi-blind faith. No matter what happens, there's always that little, "Something still will go wrong" feeling. It's constant. When the Phillies blew Game 2 of the Division Series, everyone was angry because we KNEW that the pitching would blow it and give up all those runs. We KNEW Charlie Manuel would do something outlandishly stupid. It was inevitable, and we felt it the whole time.

The only time I ever felt like a regular sports fan in my life was for the two weeks prior to the Eagles-Pats Super Bowl, when I was 13. I honestly felt like the Eagles could do it. Really without any of the doubts I constantly have now. That's where Philly fans differ, I think. Most fans get to a place that when their team is really, legitimately good and successful, they really have faith. Philly fans have this doubt that rears its head as soon as something goes wrong. It's not like we were saying, "Oh, the Phillies are definitely losing because they're from Philly." It was more like, "I'm excited, but then again, I just have this feeling that their problems will kill them." And the letdowns are a mix of disappointment and anger, because this team fell into the same trap that all of our other teams fell into. It's like knowing that the collapse is inevitable, but still hoping that this team could be the one that doesn't ... and then having your doubts and worries confirmed again.

And for my buddy, he's not any of those: he's one of those, "You just gotta think positively" kind of people, that you usually see in bad psychitriasts and six year olds. He's not a real sports fan, though, so he falls under none of those categories sort of by default. And when I say not a real sports fan, I mean it. He likes both Duke and UNC.

All my other buddies are normal, though.

Gonna listen to some Jack Johnson?

Yeah bro, I'll probably grab a six pack of Naddy Ice, kick back, play some Gamecube, maybe watch some Family Guy. You know, just chill.

What's so confusing about bro-ing out? Was it the gamecube that confused them? Hey, do you think we should update bro-ing out to include the Wii? Gamecube is totally bro, bro, but it's kinda played out, you know, bro?

I'm going to watch the episode of Numbers I missed on Friday. One thing On Demand does well: CBS shows.

Anyone else watch that show?

Best season of the show.

My particular favorites:
1. The Injury
2. Drug Testing
3. Christmas Party
4. Casino Night
5. The Client

Actually Season 2 is only 20 bucks (+shipping) on amazon. :hmm:

And Season 1 is only 12 bucks. :hyper: Granted, it's only 6 episodes.

This is seriously the easiest paper I've had to write this year. A 10-page screenplay about an episode in Cuban History, and I'm writing about the Bay of Pigs.

I've been working for about 2 hours, and I'm already halfway done.
