Serious question: How do you get someone to stop whining about how they miss their ex?

What if killing them is not a legitimate option?

I swear every conversation begins with "I want him back"

I can understand her missing him, I just wish we could talk about other things.

I completely understand where you are coming from. I had a couple of friends like that and it drove me crazy. Completely one-sided conversations everytime we spoke that after a while I just started to distance myself from them. It was a hard thing to do and I hated doing it but it really isn't a friendship/relationship when the one person only talks of themselves and their drama.. It wasn't fair to either of us. I am no longer friends with them but each scenario is different Laura. Is she the kind of person you could open up to and subtly but in the kindest of ways speak about this and how you are feeling?

Hi all. In Quebec City and between games right now. The Canada-Sweden semi-final will start in about an hour.

Laura, if subtlety doesn't work, sometimes you need to be blunt with people for them to realize what they're doing.

BoMac - always the voice of reason.

Less than an hour, elfa, less than an hour... I'm actually scrambling to finish all the work I didn't do during the day.

replace "day" with "week" and that was me today

I'm pretty much wrapped up now though...

I completely agree with this. Sometimes this is what it takes. People can be completely clueless about how the other person (being you) is feeling.
