Beav - I'm still mulling over the movie. It's definitely worth seeing. The ending is a big WTF, but honestly, I don't know how else it could have ended. I can't say I liked the ending, but damned if I can think of another way it should have ended.

I did actually leave a barely-restrained note earlier telling people to finish their laundry when they start it so other people can use it, but I've developed the passive-aggressive tendencies seen in all Seattle denizens, and thus taken down the sign.

i think you should leave the underwear note anyway. even though you didn't steal some. just to creep the person out.

It's been a note kind of weekend in my building. Someone left a note by the mailboxes that says, and I quote:

To whoever steal my mail, you suck. Thank a lot.

You can now use the sign to beat the fuckers down. That's good thinking.

Yeah, at first I had no desire to see it because I thought it was an oil man movie. Like Dallas but a hundred someodd years ago. And then I saw another commercial with the mute kid from Little Miss Sunshine going all preacher man wacky, and thought it looked interesting. Then I saw another commercial where Little Miss Sunshine kid and Daniel Day Lewis are having some sort of freaky confession and decided I had to see it. Now I just need to find time.

Honestly, on the plot/director alone, it probably wouldn't have been enough for me to go see in the theater. DVD, definitely. But I mainly went to see what all the Daniel Day-Lewis fuss was about. And to round off the list of best picture nominees I'd seen.

I'm not sorry I went at all, and mostly I thought it was very good. I thought Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunshine mute preacher kid) was really good, as was the little kid who played the little boy in the movie. But no one pays them any attention when you're busy being in awe (and a little bit scared) of DDL.

Beav, when interviewing or having research participants fill out a survey, if they indicate that they're suicidal, we're supposed to determine if they have a plan, and if so, if they have the means to carry out that plan. I think the same things could apply to homicide.

Does she seem like she's been plotting? Has she been gathering weapons?

If not, I'd probably let it slide, but it doesn't hurt to keep vigilant for signs.

Well, at first, you were your usual douche bag self. But, then, somehow, you snapped out of it. My advice?

STFU and go see the film, it's great, and DDL is fucking astounding.

After TWBB, I actually went and watched Last of the Mohicans.

His performance in Gangs is still jaw dropping to me, and I've seen it a bunch of times.

There are a lot of actors out there who I like, but DDL is the one who most consistently makes me forget that he's an actor as opposed to the actual character he's portraying. I think that I posted in the movie review thread that someone as dedicated to their craft as he is is admirable to me, but also unnerving.

Julie Christie won for Away From Her, which I just found out the other day, the movie was filmed (and better yet, not just filmed but takes place) about 10 or 15 minutes from here! An exciting thing, in my neck of the woods. I have to see it, now.

That's pretty cool. Growing up in NYC, you of course see your hometown in movies all the time, but it was still fun for me to see smaller neighborhoods that I recognized. Same deal with LA.
