He puts on a good show, too. When I saw him in 1998, halfway through the show he says he and his band will be taking a break so he needed people to replace them.

He handpicked people from the crowd, including a girl from one of my college classes, and assigned each of them an instrument. He then said that this new band needs a name, so he asked the crowd for suggestions. Finally, he said:

"Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, A Pile of Shit!!!"

The "band" decided to play Summer of '69, and all the singer knew was the chorus. He kept repeating: "It was the summer of '69" over and over and over. Good times!
