Why am I expecting Patrick Swayze to come out shirtless on a white horse now?

Btw, thanks for the nightmares I'll be having tonight, Dalton.

I love how the rockies fans cheer during God Bless America at the word "mountains" - you know cause they are from the mountains.

The site I use is a private one (basically the corner bookie gone high tech).
This morning I checked. Rox were +125
Early afternoon +152
evening slid back to +145.
It may have been because many clients are locals, so the early line of Sox -135 probably got lots of action.

They still have Ellsbury as "field" lets hope he scores the first run again.

Had I any clue it would have skyrocketed, I'd have middled the game, but who can anticipate that.

Lucky bastard.

Rockies playing the infield in to cut down the runner on 3rd in the first inning....Clint Hurdle must have no confidence in his team.

I should have doubled last night's play.
But still, nice start on all fronts.

We interrupt the World Series to bring you this important announcement:

A-Rod has opted out of his Yankees contract.

Here's the odds for first run, same for both games in Col:

Quote:
Player to score the 1st Run in Game
Sun 10/28 8:15PM (EST)

7181 Brad Hawpe +1000
7182 David Ortiz +800
7183 Dustin Pedroia +650
7184 Garrett Atkins +1000
7185 Jason Varitek +1000
7186 JD Drew +1000
7187 Kaz Matsui +800
7189 Manny Ramirez +800
7190 Matt Holliday +800
7191 Mike Lowell +1000
7192 Todd Helton +1000
7193 Troy Tulowitzki +1000
7194 Willy Taveras +550
7196 Field +800
Taveras the favorite, not even in the lineup either night.
Ellsbury the first batter of the game, is "field".
Smart bookies.

So, I am watching the World Series, because I love baseball and even though this is a sweep by the team I loathe, I'll watch them win and I'll watch some post-game.

Here is what has been running through my head for most of the game....

Joe Torre lead the Yankees to the playoffs 12 seasons in a row. Right now, the 2nd longest post-season streak is one. Now, that's a little unfair because the Sox have been there 4 of the last 5 and twice more in the late 90's and are about to win yet another WS title, etc...then you have the Braves for all those years until recently.....but, still, it demonstrates that it is hard to go 2 years in a row, let alone 12. The White Sox have not been back since winning the WS. The Cards won a WS and were nowhere this season and are unlikely to return next year. It's hard, yet, the Yanks qualified season after season. And, yes yes their payroll is through the roof so they're ahead of the field when it comes to free agency, but we all know that the early Torre Yanks were not about payroll and megastars....still, he's taken everything from well built teams to fantasy baseball bullshit rosters to the playoffs, under an insane media glare, with a tyrannical (now senile) owner as well as a dysfunctional front office (Cashman aside), and he's done nothing but win, and win with class. And I just can't fucking believe that he's done. It really irks me more now than ever, with the Sox on the brink of winning...not that there is any connection, at all......it's just on my mind. I have to believe most of you are sick of the Yankees, and I would be too if I were you, so sorry for talking about them even more (and with A-Rod opting out, there'll be even more talk about them this week), but I just felt like typing a bit about it.

Early congrats to Phanan and Hewson and Randhail (and Schmeg, if she wanders in here). My antipathy aside, I've been saying they were the best team in baseball as far back as April, and I meant it. Great rotation, strong pen, good hitting and they even play great defense (and have some speed!).....and, sure, they have a high payroll, too, but take recent high priced additions Matsuzaka and Drew away and this team still gets to the playoffs and advances....and a high payroll sure did not get the Mets into the playoffs (sorry Headache), so, $$$ spent on players is no guarantee (ask Daniel Snyder).

Enjoy it, guys!

So, if Papelbon closes this out, he is MVP.

If not, we don't need an MVP yet, and Beckett likely gets it tomorrow.

Mike Lowell is more likely if the series ends today, I think.
