I see we're you're coming from, Philly. I guess I'm trying to look at it from both sides of the coin. I was seriously asking about the Phils' last playoff appearance. Was it 1993? I know they last won the Series in 1980, but chanting "1980" just sounds kind of lame. 1918 had a better sting to it. I guess you could always chant "2000" for the Yanks. lol!

They are probably like the 4th or 5th most widely known team behind the Yanks, Dodgers, Red Sox, and maybe Mets or Cards.
Dude, there is no way the Cubs are the 5th most well known. (behind the cards or the mets? ) They were on this little station, WGN, perhaps you've heard of it, for a loooooooong time all over the country. As much as I hate to admit it, there are cub fans all over the country.

Whoooo, Mariners sweep the Red Sox!

(I left early because I'm an old fart who would prefer not to get stuck in traffic and take two hours to get home. )

Uh, yeah, 1993 was the last postseason appearance.

For the Yankees, I'd chant "$225 million!"

Notice I used the word "maybe".
The cards have a very storied history (don't let Chizip see me type this) and have had a pretty solid national following through history.
The Mets, well its just the NY factor. There are far more transplanted Nyers throughout the country than Chicagogos.
If forced to unscientifically rank, I'd put les Cubbies 4 behind the Yanks, Dodgers and Sox, but who knows for sure.

You're forgetting the Braves. The Braves played on TBS and TBS aired the bulk of the Braves games for many, many years. Plus, they made the playoffs for over a decade straight. When I lived in NY, I didn't get WGN but I got TBS, and if I was not watching the Yanks I was probably watching the Braves. They're, these days, as widely known or recognized as any team in baseball outside of the Yanks or Red Sox. I think that while the Cards have a very rich history, the Cubbies are probably a little more well known.

Cardinal fans are absolutely crazy. I mean this in a good way. I think their fan base makes themselves or their presence felt better than the average fan. I mean, when the Cardinals lost to the Red Sox in the World Series, one guy was wearing a beak. A BEAK!!!

who does that...

Do the Braves not play on TBS anymore?

This is the last season the Braves will have some games on TBS.

The Braves couldn't even sell out playoff games most years during their long run of division titles.
Being on TBS did put them on the map nationally, but they don't truly have anywhere near the following as the other teams I mentioned.
