Man, the Cards got destroyed by the Mets. They can't afford to start the season like this. Not with a division that's got the Astros and the newlook Cubbies.

A rotation that inludes Braden "don't call me Brandon or Bronson" Looper and your former closer Wainwright can't inspire too much confidence. Couple that with Carpenter's injury and you've got a recipe for disaster.
Time will tell.

Thats a scary thought.
Pujols batting .100 is an odd sight.

meh this is a transition year for the Cardinals, they get a bit of a pass since they wonthe WS last year, but they better retool next offseason.vvtheir outfield maybe be the worst in the NL, and they really have no go to guys in the bullpen.

i used to be worried about the rotation, but it actually should be decent. looper will be fine as a 5th starter, he pitched well last night until he got tired at the end.

i hate to say it but i think the cubs have the best shot at the central, them or the brewers

Don't discount the Pirates. But if Sheets stays healthy I think the Brewers are the team to beat.

There's a line we haven't heard in a long time.

looper will be an okay starter till around may, when his arm gives out.

you can't expect a guy who's been a 1 inning relieft pitcher his entire career to go an entire season as a starter without developing some sort of arm/shoulder problem.

he pitched well last night for a few innings... but the more the innings went on, the harder the mets were hitting the ball. even in the third inning they had a few hard hits, they were just hit at someone. eventually they broke through when beltran went yard.
