The Yanks aren't doing well, but it's still too early to panic just yet. They can only get better from here. If they can only get one of their starters to last 7 innings, they might possibly get out of this funk. Regardless, Torre won't be fired. Torre's firing has been threatened several times by the fans and media alike for years, but nothing's happened yet. The Yanks had a 7 game losing streak back in 2000 and they still managed to win the World Series.

well, one assumes they can only get better... but not neccesarily.

the major difference between the yankees in 2000 losing 7 games and still being able to win the world series and the yankees losing 7 games here in april is that the yankees of 2007 are old.

The Yanks have always been old. The thing is though, the 2000 team had better pitching to get them to and through October. These Yanks don't have that luxury. If the starters don't begin to last longer in games, then the Yanks are in for a tough season.

not this old... at least they had some young guys sprinkled among the vets in 2000. those young guys... jeter, bernie, rivera, posada, pettite... are now old, or in bernie's case, gone.

For the first time ever, a Yankees pitcher manages to work his way out of Torre's doghouse. Huh.
