Yankee fans in their mid 20's have no idea how to handle this. The prospect of a poor Wankee team is completely foreign to them.

They'll all be Mets fan if this slide continues.

while it certainly looks bad for the yankees, and i do feel that if the red sox sweep this series torre's canned... let's be real here for a sec. they've had bad starts before where they've been declared dead... maybe not quite like this, but still bad. it is only april.

perez pitched well last night... he gave up 3 runs in the 1st, then allowed just one run through the 7th inning, striking out 9 and i think he only walked one. he gave the mets a chance to win. it wasn't perez... the bats didn't come through.

Yea, he pitched very well. The Mets seem to strand quite a bit of runners. They still score a great deal so if they ever lean to get runners in from third with less than 2 outs they would be that much better.

if they can get more than 4 RBI's out of the 5 hole it would be a nice start.

the new york media has been very low key on how terrible david wright has been to start this season. delgado hasn't been great either, but carlos is hitting .429 with 8 RBI's with two outs and runners in scoring position. so while he's not hitting with consistancy, he has hit in clutch situations.

wright's just been terrible. he's batting .143 with runners in scoring position. he's hitting behind reyes and beltran, who are always on base, and has just 4 RBI's. shit, el duque has 2 RBI's. the fact that he's still hitting .266 and his on base is on par with what it was last year tells ya the guy's a good hitter, but he's not a homerun hitter, but he's trying to be. he tries to pull everything out of the ballpark, rather than going with the pitch and hitting it to the opposite field the way he did to start his career.

willie needs to do something... maybe drop him in the order, maybe move him up to 2nd for a few games and see if the steady flow of fastballs he'll get in that spot turns him around. he did have an opposite field double yesterday, so maybe he's getting it... but damn, he's gotta do something soon.

even though they've had bad aprils before, it doesn't make it any less enjoyable

Do the Mets still have Radomski's number on speed dial?

Big Grin entertainment!

Tony LaRussa told reporters yesterday he would not be speaking with reporters from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch because of this article.

a) i could care less if every player in the league was on roids

b) the guy is being accused of handing out roids long after he was employed by the mets. he was a bat boy, for pete's sake.

Which is exactly why Torre won't be fired no matter what happens this weekend.

that i'm not so sure about... he barely survived the off-season, steinbrenner is chomping at the bit, and the one lone person of sanity, swindell, is no long with the franchise 'cause steinbrenner's daughter didn't love him anymore.

which also leads to the rumors that the dolan family will try to buy the yankees now that george doesn't really have anyone to give it to... which makes me chuckle.

frankly i think torre should be canned... or quit. he's obviously lost it... he manages april games as if they were in september or later. his management of the pitching staff has been brutal. i know they have injuries, but you can't use the bullpen like that in april... they'll be shot by july.

word is damon may go on the DL shortly with back issues.
