Is it bad I was happy when Benny slammed Artie's hand in the sauce?

My mom and I kept saying throughout tonight's episode how we've never been a fan of Artie Buco's. And when did he and Charmaine get back together?

Christopher keeps cracking me up with his desire to break into movies, but beating up Lauren Bacall - oh, Christopher.

That said, tonight's episode = kinda blah, if you ask me.

i thought it was a good episode, some slow moments, some very funny moments, does anyone else think that this has been the funniest season yet? i don't think there's yet been an episode that hasn't made me laugh out loud at least twice.

it also seems like every season there's an Artie episode, and he really does get more and more pathetic, but at least he's earning his money in a somewhat legit way in comparison to the rest of them, that he's toiling away while everyone around him has achieved some semblance of wealth by taking the "easy" (i.e, criminal) way. Artie's sort of the "angry white male" of the cast, and he continually gets crapped upon by (usually indirectly) by Tony.

and a big to Ben Kingsley and Lauren fucking Bacall.

Yep, those two were spectacular. Ben's face was priceless when he saw those two get on the elevator with him.

I also liked how, when Christopher came back and gave Tony the swag basket and he wasn't impressed, he started whining and Tony said, "You can't go playing the Adriana card forever".

SUPERB episode. geniunely emotional, both vito's storyline and AJ's mishap. the scene with AJ and Tony outside the police office was one of the best that i can remember -- if episode 2 won Edie Falco her millionth Emmy, that scene might have just won James Gandolfini his millionth Emmy. Tony and Carmela in the closet was another powerful scene, and this is what the Sopranos does best, it gives you these sublime moments, where what seems ordinary is suddenly revealed to be far more than what it initially appears and a universe of meaning suddenly opens up and leaves you almost breathless at what has just been accomplished.

loved the gentification subplot, too.

i also thought the Vito subplot was well handled, though i'm not sure why a strapping fireman (with bad facial hair) would be into Vito, unless he's into chubs, or there's just a total lack of men in this particular new hampshire town. which is understandable.

great episode.

oh, question: have we ever seen Tony and Carmela having sex on screen before?

(notice how you couldn't see her until it was over, and i sort of assumed that it was a russian hoo-er, so nicely done in subverting my expectations)

I would think he dropped it because he got scared if anything, but it is possible....and what a great ending wonder what happens to AJ! I hope they don't make us wait 2 weeks to find out.

I think it's the latter. He is lonely too.

As for why AJ dropped the knife, I dunno, maybe when he saw his uncle he just couldn't go through with it.

Yes, but I think it's at a sub-conscious level...
