I tried to include songs that I thought most people would like
so you should be able to get any one of these songs and enjoy it to some extent.

I tried to put them in some kind of order from best to least best, but that's hard to do

Please, feel free to add to the list

You're first four songs are amazing. For me, let's see...

The Arcade Fire - seriously, I can't remember the name off hand, and I'm too lazy to look it up. It's the one that goes "everytime you close your eyes" over and over again...brilliant!

The Walkmen - The Rat. Best all out rock song I've heard in a long time. Probably since 2+2=5.

Loscil - The Grid

Sandro Perri - Dreaming (is real)

Wilco - Less than you think

Beck - argh, again the name escapes me. It was in that really good Jim Carey movie earlier this year. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

I'll have more later.

Tom Waits new album is great

lots of vocal elemtns and beatboxing

like Medulla possessed by the devil.

Tom Waits - Don't Go Into That Barn

Pinback- Fortress

Sun Kill Moon- Carry me Ohio

The Mountain Goats- Palmcorder Yajna

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists- Me and Mia

AC Newman- Miracle Drug

Wilco- Company in my back

Iron and Wine- On your wings

Jens Lekman- you are the light

Secret Machines- Nowhere again

Agreed with
Jolie Holland
Sondre Lerche
The Walkmen

as new releases come out we should keep adding to this thread

and then, pick the top 20 at the end of the year!

*geeky moment*

But Basstrap has great credibility - music-wise :)

I've got a folder made called best of 2004

it's nice to hear kind words. everyone at work thinks I have a bad taste in music.
Elvis takes the cake though

sorry, but what came to my mind before open the post was "irish blood, english heart" by morrissey.

Not bad, I actually prefer First of the Gang to Die though. Moz should be represented however....

"Primitive (The Way I Treat You)" Ambulance LTD
"The Letter" PJ Harvey
"The Year of the Rat" Badly Drawn Boy
"The Tide that Left and Never Came Back" the Veils

Ambulance LTD. - Ophelia
Animal Collective - Who Could Win a Rabbit
Mouse on Mars - Wipe That Sound
Dillinger Escape Plan - Sunshine the Werewolf
Tom Waits - Don't Go Into That Barn

I would like to change my Fall song from Contraflow to Sparta 2

Modest Mouse - Float On

Yes, it has been overplayed, but not the song's fault

 yeah, it's too bad about the overplayed thing...

personally i think it's a better song than 'ocean breathes salty'

Jay-Z - 99 Problems

And I prefer Ocean Breathes Salty, though Float On is excellent as well.

the second track that is a slower float on, basically, is better than float on.

I love all the 'bah bah bah bah baAah'

speaking of things that go 'baah'

sheep-4.jpg

the briggs - song for us
social distortion - nickels and dimes
street dogs - tale of mass deception
flogging molly - (undecided, everything on the new album is so good...)

Ash - Orpheus

can't think of anything else at the moment. maybe Laura Veirs but I haven't heard enough of the record to make a good impression. Kings of Convenience perhaps.

damn i wish i had a computer at home. for the last year i haven't had the internet @home so i haben't been keeping up with new good music.

i haven't heard of most of those bands. :reject:
