The Skids Offer their Support of Music Rising
Some great news from The Skids in London: Many of you know that U2 and Green Day performed "The Saints Are Coming" at the historic re-opening of the Superdome in Louisiana this past September. The song was cover of the song originally recorded by the Skids. Since the event, the Skids have gotten back together and produced a 30th Anniversary show in Scotland to huge audiences. Their manager reports that all entry fees paid by the guests will benefit Music Rising and has since informed us that the band will be sending the donation to Music Rising to continue the campaign's focus of helping churches and schools in the area. Thank you to the Skids!

That's a big  for supporting Music Rising, not to mention for them getting back together.

anyone know how much music rising has raised?

  " ... On April 21st, 2007 at New York’s famous Hard Rock Café, Music Rising hosted the Icons of Music, a magnificent worldwide auction featuring an unprecedented collection of some of the world’s most sought after instruments and music memorabilia, that raised over $2.4m for our initiative. We thank all of our friends and supporters and all the great artists, especially the members of U2, who gave so generously to the auction. And we thank Darren Julien of Julien’s Auctions for creating the fundraising event of the year on our behalf. We are overwhelmed by the success of the auction. This money, along with the money from the sale of the Epiphone guitar, will go a very long way towards accomplishing our original goal. ..."

The Skids remind me a lot of a less jazzy version of Television. Musically wonderful, with shitty vocals
