The Police reuniting for tour in '07 ???

According to U2's stage manager Rocko Reedy, The Police are reuniting for a tour in 2007! I've been sitting on this for a week now. Hope I don't get anyone in trouble by posting this! I was a huge Police fan back in high school before I got into U2, so it's been tough to keep this under wraps!

Here's the scoop...

I carpooled to and from the U2 concert in Honolulu last Saturday with Mandi and a group of her friends. I met Mandi in Chicago during Elevation and again in Hawaii back in April. We all met up at Wailana Coffee House in Honolulu early Sunday morning after the concert. One of Mandi's friends, her name is Nico, works in the music business and knows Rocko. She had some big news to tell us. Nico ran into Rocko last Saturday and talked with him for a little while. She asked him what his plans were now that the U2 tour was ending. Rocko said he'd find another band's tour to work next year. Then he dropped the bombshell. Rocko told her he's already been approached to work The Police reunion tour next year! That's pretty much all I know. Didn't hear any more details as to when this tour is supposed to start, where they'll be playing. And why they decided to reunite. This definitely came as a shock as I was under the impression those guys still don't get along very well. I remember reading an interview with Stewart or Andy saying a Police reunion would never happen. Expecting them to record another album together might be out of the question with the egos involved, but perhaps they could pull off a tour.
As big a Police fan as I was back in high school, I never did get to see them perform live in concert. Perhaps I'll finally get my chance next year! I'll be cautiously optimistic until I hear some official announcement made.

If you can fit Sting's ego in a van with them, I'm all for it!

A dozen date stadium tour of the US(with No Doubt as the opening act) was booked in 2004. It was after their RoH induction and everyone was onboard, but Sting bailed just before he had to sign on the dotted line.

Sting then toured with a power trio and did a college concert tour playing mostly Poilice songs in the spring of 2005.

Go figure.

"Outlandous D'Amour" has had regular time spinning in my cd player this week.

I would love this.

If this is true, it'll blow my mind, and I'll be the first in line for a ticket.

There have been rumors about this for eons, it seems like, even though Sting has been so adamant about The Police never getting back together. Maybe he realizes he ain't doing so hot as a solo artist these days? LOL.

Again, if this is true, hopefully they'll sound better than when they played at the RnH Hall of Fame. That was kinda painful... lol.

I think Andy and Sting are still pretty good friends. Sting and Stewart may be another story, though. They all seemed to get along when they were inducted into the RnR Hall of Fame 3 years ago.

Screams nostalgia tour to me. I remember wanting so very desperately to see them in the early 80s, but now when I listen to their music (and I know this is blasphemous ) much of it seems very dated to me.

I think they were perfect for their time, but I don't think much of their music has aged well and for me going to see them would feel as if I was trying to recapture my young adulthood and that thought kind of makes me squirm.

But I won't say they shouldn't do it. If they want to do it and people want to see them I hope they do it and do it well enough to make everyone happy.

This would be cool. Better than having to listen to more of the recent shit that Sting has put out.

I was never a fan during the hype in the early 80s, especially working at a record store in L.A. They played live at Hollywood Park, an outdoor horse racetrack. It was a big event, but I had no interest in going. If they reunite, it might be worth checking out That is, if it's affordable

No, all three are friends. Stewart and Sting e-mail each other a lot. They just can't work together well.

You made a wise choice. They sucked.
