Our high school baseball team's pitching coach is from Boston. Awesome accent.

Completely straight-faced, the guy goes, "Five bucks, buddy." My buddy, who's an idiot, turns to us with semi-scared shock, as we all start cracking up. As we pull in front, the guy grins a little and nods to us, knowing he got my buddy.

Damn you, Nate.
this is exactly why i hate philly. what toolbags/douches. not you pfan, but the rest of the city.

Been to Philly four times, and I can attest to this; you have some crazy folks out there. Not much brotherly love, but I don't expect that from huge cities.

I think it's an interesting study in socio-cultural/political/religious phailure writ large.

Same here! I've been to Queensland, Western Australia, Victoria (obviously), NSW and South Australia, but not the others.

Melbourne's still the best though. Sydney's mediocre, unfriendly and tries too hard, Perth is quiet, I can't really remember Queensland and Adelaide, well, meh.
I've only been to Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria. How pathetic is that? I want to do the Great Ocean Road through to South Australia and the ferry down to Tassie this year if I can find anybody who wants to come with me (and in the case of the Great Ocean Road, can actually, you know, DRIVE). I'd love to go to WA. Perth sounds really nice. 2 hours and 200 years behind, but nice.

Melbourne is the best city I have ever been to. Wellington is second. Wellington would be first if it hadn't torn up its trams. That's what gives Melbourne the edge. I say that not out of my usual bias, but out of the fact that it really does make the city more livable.

Ian McCulloch the U2 fan:
"Who buys U2 records anyway? It's just music for plumbers and bricklayers. Bono, what a slob. You'd think with all that climbing about he does, he'd look real fit and that. But he's real fat, y'know. Reminds me of a soddin' mountain goat."
"And as for Bono, he needs a colostomy bag for his mouth."

Phnom Penh is a great place - a bit rustic, but really charming. Kuala Lumpur... Nah, don't even think about it. Singapore, just like Kuala Lumpur, only better.
Bangkok is crowded, though hilarious ads on the sky train. I liked Chiang Mai. India = every city is crowded.

/me in asia

I don't know, but it's shit.

His idea of rock is Linkin Park.

I don't like to think about it much.

Sometimes it really sucks being an only child. Part of me wishes I had a little brother to steer towards the straight and narrow.

But then I read this.

Oh god, Ipswich is the SADDEST place i've ever been.

I'm not exaggerating, it's genuinely sad.
